Depends entirely on cond. A new one will run around $1800-$1900. Seems too high for a 6 yr old scooter regardless of mileage. Mileage is not always a good bench mark to go by. If it has sat for 4 or 5 yrs it could be a money pit. Also it's a Chinese scooter, not the best quality to begin with.

I bought a jmstar! 250cc.either he gave me a Smoken deal or waiting for me to get smoked.I've bee riding it all out day and night. 60+mphspeedometer says120k but I only weigh about 150lbs. 300$paid 3months ago and about 3oil changes .bought at 7000miles on odometer now its at 9377. I've also in need of a tire and rim. Great 4 me. I didn't get smoked when I had a rear blowout due to tire wear? Or is it because the rear tire nut wasn't even on the axle to hold the tire on!!!! Just the swing arm and exhaust.
Mark, it's nice to hear success stories with this scooter. I'm having problems and am looking for an owners manual and a place to order parts. Someone gave me one and it needs some work. Can you help?

I've got a 250cc daily driver with over 10,000 miles on it now... Cruises right along and I like it.

Just like any other machine, it takes basic maint to keep it cruising.

I had the switch by the grip go bad so it wouldn't start at one point. Turn's out that switch is the brake light switch and starter continuity switch in one. So I disconnected the wires at the switch and touched them together and wala it started right up. When I got home, I grabbed an old push button switch and connected the wires to it. So now I just push the button when starting it. When braking, I also push the button so the brake light comes on... still work's fine.

I have a 2008 JMStar 250cc. The fuse from the battery keeps burning out. Thought it was a battery problem, put in a new batter, still burning the fuse and will not start. Think it goes back into the ignition - any suggestions?

I have Alien jm star. So much problems . Sick of it being so unreliable. Parts are cheap and break all the time. Just got it serviced and within a week it had started to shudder when I pull off.already new battery and fuse . New lock fitted.

My son was given a JM Star 150 cc scooter last summer with 1200 miles on it. First stop was a new battery, fair enough it had been standing for a year. Next stop was a new coil, the factory coil had shorted out, I was able to fit a NAPA coil that only cost twenty bucks. made it work even though it has no points. It does get really good mileage, my guess about 90 per gallon but I consider it very dangerous to drive. The front brake is allegedly ABS but I think thatīs chinese for automatic blocking system. barely touch the brake lever and the wheel locks and boom, youīre on the ground again. The side stand is so wrong that you have to find a hole to put it in or the scoot will fall over the other direction. the center stand also seems to be welded in the wrong place, you have to pick up the bike totally to get it to go down, Two days ago I was trying to use it so I could remove the rear tire because its valve stem broke off, and the darn thing bent, VERY soft steel on these chinese bikes. Bottom line, if it hadnīt been free it would have cost too much, as it is my new scars are down to Chinese manufacturers who really donīt care about their american customers. Just saying.

I have been looking to buy a scooter and found a JMStar 250cc scooter. Is that a good make? I have heard that there are some bad ones that will break down in a few months and I don't need that hassle. I have also been looking at Lance. They are a little more expensive so I figure they might be better. Your help is appreciated!
I spoke to a local lance dealer today and read some of the reviews. I learned that lance was originally made in china when the company was owned by Znen. Those Lances sucked. But then SYM, a very reputable Taiwanese company that has built parts for Honda, bought the company in, I believe I was told 2010. The scooters made by SYM have gotten good reviews. Hope this helps you! Greg

Before you buy a Lance better read some of the threads on this website about Lance scooters.
I read a bunch of stuff on them but still bought one. I should have used that sticky stuff on the screws to keep them in place but haven't had any major problems with the scooter in 8 years. Still runs fine.

I purchased a JM Star Exciter 150 last October. I love it! Easy to work on (if you should ever need to) abundant parts available and fun to ride.
I know people always wonder about Chinese scooters but the exact attitude was felt when Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki came to the US. I have been in the Philippines where motorcycles and scooters are workhorses. A majority of these scooters are Chinese!
are there any 600 cc Jmstar 2008. i see one for sale for $600.00,
