Good afternoon,
To give you a background on myself, I have worked on everything from minibikes to custom racing bikes. However I never deal with electrical issues, I have always had somebody else do that for me. But with fixing a friends bike I do not want to pay the guy $200 an hour to come over and fix it.
Anyways, I fully cleaned the carb, checked the spark, check the compression, bleed the gas lines, checked the floats etc...
The scooter will run for 30 seconds and die. It doesn't matter if its on a stand idling, or if its on the stand with the throttle cranked wide open...30 seconds then stalls out. Even with riding it up a hill and down the hill same time. At first I thought the bowl was running out of gas, but that isn't the issue. Has anyone experienced this same problem and has a solution? I'm starting to think coil, cdi, regulating rectifier, etc... but it gets expensive to play the guessing game.
Also after it dies when I try to start it again, it takes about 15 seconds before it will fire up.
Thanks for your help!!!!

A quick guess is CDI but why dont you have a spare plug handy and when it quits, pull the plug wire and stick it on the spare plug to see if it has spark. I said CDI because it sounds like what I've seen on cars many times in the past. The trigger mechnism cools off pretty quick and may start to work again. Not unusual for this to happen.

Shucks, that's good performance for a Roketa. I had one and would have been happy if it ran 30 seconds.

Thanks,

I tried a new plug, also took the stator cover off and checked the points, they all looked very good. I was thinking possibly a crash safty sensor might of been tripped, any ideas?

Well, I have an 08 Bali 150 with 300 miles on it. I have already experienced a fuel leak and had to replace the inline fuel filter. Now the problem is a starting problem as previous stated from others I have the same issue of it only running for about 30 seconds then cutting off. It immediately dies if you hit the throttle. Any advice on what to do?

Capacitor discharge ignition (CDI) or thyristor ignition is a type of electronic ignition system which is widely used in motor scooters. The capacitive-discharge ignition fires the spark plugs. It is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Usually located near the spark plug. Chinese scooters are well known for poor quality CDI's among many other things.
