Hello from Florida I'm new to this board and I recently aquired a V 65 for some work I did in trade. This bike is going to need alot of help.Has been sitting for almost 7 years. Bike was "parked" after charging system went down, so i already know that is a place I need to start. But seeing that there was gas in the tank that smelt like terpentine I decided to do the same thing to this as i did my last project bike. Tearing it all the way down and going thru it. Started today. Both carbs are in dire need of a rebuild and cleaning. both thrittle cables are froze as well as the choke cables. So those are now both off the bike getting ready to tear down. Both brakes are locked so those are off and all cylinders will be rebuilt. After taking the carbs off I found a great joy that I'm really excited about (sarcasim) I found rust and white crystals all thru the intake system so I know I'm going to have to tear the engine down and do a complete rebuild of gaskets and prob bearings and seals. So after seeing this I have decided to take the bike down to the bone frame and go thru everything Its a shame to see such a great bike in this shape but I will get it back in top shape and back on the road where it belongs. I will be doing the work myself.
For the record I just finished an 86 honda rebel 450 that I did the same thing to parts were "fun" to find seeing that they only made the bike for 2 years, but shes back on the road again with over 9000 miles on her and trips to NC and to the florida keys.
Trust me I'll be in and out of here with updates and of course questions (prob lots of them)
