I just recently purchased a 2002 MZ Moskito Scooter from a family
in Kansas. Within a month I moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado. I
have had a problem with the scooter stalling out on steep inclines.
I have called dealers that service motorcycles and scooters in this
area and keep getting the same story. The last they heard was that
the former sales and manager for Moto Guzzi North America had been
appointed GM of MZ Motorrad of North America, and they were located
in Miami, Florida. About three months ago this company seems to have
fallen off the face of the earth. We here that they are re-located
in California. Would you have information on how to reconnect with
this company? We have a number of MZ's sitting around waiting for
parts! Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a float level problem to me. Is the problem going up or down grade or both. Could also be the fuel line feed location in the tank. If the line is in the front of the tank it will starve for fuel going up hill. If it is in the rear of the tank the problem would be down hill.

Gloria--I am in Fort collins--however this post may be too late for you.
I happen to have a service manual for an MZ Moskito (FB 50/90) model (I purchased it form jacmacscooters in Florida several years ago)..The motor it refers to in the manual is a CPI --so maybe you could also contact CPI motors who make other scooters.

Aha! Do they ever stick OPEN?

Looked at a 2002 today with 1200k on it. Owner offered to let me try it. First I checked the oil. Unscrewed dipstick and oily black gasoline gushed out. Surprised the seller, as he'd ridden it two days earlier. I thought perhaps a stuck-open float valve (no manual fuel shutoff, which I thought weird) had let gasoline flow through carb and intake valve into cylinder and thence to crankcase. I bought it cheap, as he's leaving town.

Took carb out and checked what I could see. Float valve operates freely as does whatever that bellows thing is on top.

I put it back together but did not put oil in. Will check crankcase in the morning to see if more gasoline has accumulated. Guess is, intake valve has to be open if my guess is correct.

Professional opinion appreciated.

Quick fix. Ordered a mechanical shutoff valve that I will splice into the fuel line below the tank where it's easy to reach. Interim fix: I clamp the fuel line with a plastic clamp when I';m not using the scooter.

Drained a very small amount of gas and oil from the crankcase this morning, then tipped it up with oil and went for a ride. Problem solved. Sort of. I hope.
