I watched a nature video showing the male birds of paradise performing intricate dances to attract the females. Over the millennium of evolution, these dances became very intricate!

Then suddenly a thought came to my mind. In Scotland, the Scottish males are known to be very brave, especially the Highlanders. The clan warfare and bravery display of the Scottish males would be similar to the male birds of Paradise. Basically, if you are brave, you have more chance to select a good females and have more children. And your children tend to be brave.

Then I thought about the North Vietnamese and the South Vietnamese. I read books and know the North Vietnamese are very brave and superior over the South Vietnamese. So, how could the South Vietnamese guys compete against the North Vietnamese guys? I would think eventually Vietnam would be full of North Vietnamese and have no more South Vietnamese?

So, I thought very hard for an answer. I found the answer by watching another nature show. This show is about the cuttlefishes. In the mating season, the strong males fight for dominance, but there are some smaller males which would pretend to be females, then slip right though the combat zones to mate with the females.

So, brute strength and bravery do no always win. Slyness wins too. The South Vietnamese guy would tend to rape their girl friends to get them pregnant, then force the girls to marry them. That's how they got the girls.

Discuss. Did I get it right?
