I have a 2008 kawi vulcan nomad with about 8500 miles on it, on moderate acceleration in any gear the engine sounds like its pinging,(pre detonation or spark knock?) I use only super unleaded, and have tried adding octane booster but the ping is still there. the plugs have been changed twice and appears all are firing but may be slightly lean, my dealer says I am loading the engine in the wrong gear. I was thinking of buying a programmer. Any suggestions?

I also have a vulcan nomad 1600, though it is a 2006 with 17,500 miles, with the same problem. The response I get from Kawasaki's customer service is to take it in to a dealer again. Thank you Kawasaki customer service for your no help, help. If you ever find a magic bullet that fixes the problem...please share it with me! Thanks.

I have a 2008 Kawi Vulcan Nomad with about 3800 miles on it. I kept the battery on a trickle charger over the winter and it worked fine when I first got out in March. Now the bike (with 600 miles this year) won't start after sitting for a day or two. I have hooked it up to a battery charger and it says fully charged after 1/2 hour. I have checked for grounding, loose connections and pinched wires, alternator seems to be working while idleling. Kawi dealer says I need a new battery. I have gone through this with other Kawis I have owned and replacing the battery only works till it goes bad or same problem reoccurs. Any Ideas? I have had electrical problems with every Kawi I have owned, even had one short out while riding home from the dealer and catching on fire with less than 5 miles on the bike.
