Hi all,

I’m doing the rounds of the boards because I am at my wit’s end.

Bought an ’06 Civic Coupe LX auto last November and have had nothing but trouble since.

#1 Faulty ODS sensor replaced before recall

#2 Torque converter vibrates between 29 and 39 mph @ 1500 rpm. They told that there is as yet no fix for this - so basically they said “live with it!”

#3 Oil leak. The car is currently in the shop – they have to drop the transmission to replace a plug where the engine meets the transmission.

This is my second Civic (my wife has an 02 Accord). Needless to say, I will not buy another Honda. I am amazed that a car manufacturer of this caliber can build, sell and SUPPORT a car that is so obviously sub-par.

I am writing this as a heads-up for other Civic owners and to ask if anyone else has experienced any of these problems.

Thanks for listening (it gets very lonely).

SOrry to hear about your civic problems but i'm not having any and my car's been great so far. Have you tried contacting honda consumer affairs about the problems you've had?

Honda Civic's are Number one pain in a ass cars not number one in North America. I bought 04 civic auto transmission is gone after only 36790 miles. Honda is not doing anything as warranty lapsed recently. North Americas Disastrous car in terms of Transmission. I will definitely advise you to complaint to NHSTA and force them to recall all civics from 99 with bad solenoid as that faulty part is root of the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this with their 06 Honda Civic? There is a horrible, chemical/moldy type smell that blasts forth everytime I turn on the AC. Honda has replaced the AC filter, ran deoderant through it which only mixed with the alrady nasty smell and made it worse. Now they are trying to tell me its the plastic inside the car?? Huh?? They have told me no one else has come forward with this complaint.

I have recently taken delivery of my top-of-the-range Honda Civic Sport.
From the day I picked up the car I have had endless problems with the interior trim. The roof lining doesn't fit and hangs out above the drivers side door - this is after Honda replaced it with another, which was twice as bad. There was a large watermark stain on the sunroof blind, which they have replaced but in doing so they have dislodged the sunroof with no longer sits flush. My steering wheel is loose and creaks everytime you turn the wheel - which isn't very comforting seeing as though it is the only thing connecting you with the car...
The passenger seat wobbled and rattled over the slighhtest bump, they have sinced then replaced the seat with a new one but it still does the same thing!
In Australia they are marketing the new Civic - which is built in Thailand - as 'Nothing Feels as Finished.'
I really beg to differ about this slogan and feel that I would have had a more finished product even from Hyundai!
After Honda has been stuffing me around replacing all these things I feel that my now rattly Civic is no longer new, which is a very big let-down and has enforced my decision about never buying another Honda again! I cant believe Honda can not even manufacture a car with fitting interior trimmings.
Has the decision to now manufacture cars in Thailand affected Honda's reputation? I very much think so, and I have proof sitting outside in my driveway.

I've had my 06 civic lx for about three months so far and the only problem that I have had thus far is the passenger window, it seems that it is dragging on something. Anyone else have this problem?

Im sorry to hear about all of these problems. i had a 98 civic ex with 200,000 miles on it. The only problem i had before recently was that i had to replace the alternator after 7 years. (No rust or anything.)my most recent problem was an oil leak that i decided not to fix. I just bought a 06 civic ex and have had no problems so far. actually, it seems that honda has fixed everything that one could have considered wrong with previous generations. i hope to get another 7 years and no fixes out of my 06. so far so good.

further proof that Jap cars have just as many problems as US cars and those that think that honda can make a car light years ahead of everyone else is just plain ignorant. Ive had 3 honda auto tans cars go at less than 100k. all being well cared for. ive known 3 other people with the same problem, one was a stick.my ex girlfriend had an 99 prelude and i made her trade it in within a year because its auto trans shifted worst than a 80's olds i had. just buy a gm. your doors will fall off, your windows wont roll down and your AC wont work but it will start and shift smoothly everytime

I am in the process of having my 2001 Civic's transmission rebuilt at 65K miles. Never ANY problems with Hondas in the past (have had 3 accords and all have been driven to at least 150K without issues.) Had not planned to spend $2600 on a transmission this soon, if ever!

Hey I took my 06 civic to the dealer today for ac problems....at red lights and busy stop and go traffic my car shakes and the ac blows out hot. They told me today that nothing was wrong with my car. The are full of shit! So I guess the car was made to be cool on long distant drives but in busy traffic and red lights your suppose to burn up. I contacted consumer relations and the man told me to go back to the dealer and request to speak with the manager and have him take a drive with me to show him exactly what my problem his... So I am sure to be back at the dealers Monday morning bright and early ready to complain!!!

I purchased an 06 Honda Civic Sedan EX in Dec. 05. It bearly has 16,000 K (not sure what that is in miles)on it but I've been basically driving it to and from work (short distances) for 8 months and after it's second oil change it starts leaking oil all over my driveway. I keep checking the oil and it seems to be maintaining the proper levels. I finally take it to the Honda dealer because the oil was getting low AND they SENT ME AWAY because the oil life was reading 20 per cent, even tho I told them there was a leak. I made an appointment for the next week and took it in. By then the oil life was reading 15 per cent so they did an oil change on it. I get a call from the dealer who tells me that they suspect a faullty crank shaft seal. Only two days after having the oil changed they insisted I come in to check the oil. I asked them why they are so concerned NOW and not when I brought it in, instead they turned me away. Now on Monday they are dropping the transmission out of the car to repair the leak. I know it's all under warranty but as soon as they start taking major components apart, the car never works right again. Needless to say I got the guy to admit that he's already done 3 of these procedures on brand new 06 Civics....Hmmmmmmm what's up with that? I'm going to let them fix it and I'm glad I only lease the damn thing at least I won't be stuck with it at the end of my lease. Oh by the way I had an 02 Civic and it had transmission problems...it accelerated like an old mule from first to second at intersections. I think this will be my last HONDA!

So my tranny blew at 70-80k miles.. YAY !!!! i bought it used with 65k miles on it. Anyways, the Starter/alternator is messed up YAY !! so they replaced my tranny (only because it was under warranty) with a used tranny... now at 90k miles my tranny hits HARD after i accelerate at every corner and stop. The gears shift irregulary sometimes to the point of redlining. My SRS light is also on. I'm no longer under the warranty but you better fucknig believe im gonna fight these assholes at the dealership till i die.

I used to work for acura.honda here in NY, the oil seal/ gasket / plus has always been a issue, there is a service bulletin on it, the smell in the cars is mold in the condensor, this is the fix, start car, crank heat, make sure your on max, and heating the air inside, no fresh air, set it to recirc... EMPTY, I SAY EMPTY A CAN OF LYSOL WITH DISSENINFECTANT INTO THE INTAKE UNDER THE GLOVE BOX, that will suck in the lysol, kill the germs that cause bad breath, PS keep the doors shut but the one your in, wear a mask or a shirt over your mouth , and have glass's on so the spray dosnt hit your eyes.. leave heat on for 30 minutes. do not drive car with fresh intake on for 10 hours.. smell will be killed, then go for spin with fresh on to clear out the lysol smell

I purchased an 06 Honda Civic LX in March. So far I have had to replace a faulty O ring.

I changed the oil at 3700 miles. It's now 4700 miles and I got a message saying that the Oil Life is 15%. I stopped and checked the oil, and it was fine.

I'm wondering if I purchased a lemon.
