Harley to jettison MV Agusta, Buell

Harley-Davidson expects to make a decision during December about whether to stay in York County - but the narrowed timeline was dwarfed Thursday by news of massive restructuring elsewhere in the company.

Agree--York wants $30.00 to start, just to push a broom/push a button. Unless the greed ends, Harley in York County is going to. It's a shame.

so buell is out. maybe they need to cut back on each family of m/c ........sportster , dynas , soft tail , touring , etc. when will HD decide to cut retired workers' pension and insurance benefits ? if the current workers are smart , they better take one hell of a big pay cut or its over.

I hope they leave, or at the very least don't give two @#%&s whether they do or not. The workers have it coming. So does a local company that works in conjunction with Harley.

I only feel bad for the little guy....the workers of these local companies who have been screwed by their own employers.

My husband works in a factory, comes home from work looking like he just climbed out of a chimney, gets metal in his eyes, works without AC or a good heat source. He makes $12.00 an hour (after 2 years) to support his family and is happy to have a job. We talked to a girl who's employer was Harley--she worked on an assembly line tightening 2 screws (using a machine to do the job), she made $19.00 an hour the day she got hired.

For you nut bags hammering the union I just want you to know that the cntract is an agreement between the company and the workers.
The union has nothing that the company didn't want them to have or deserve to have.
Now that times are tough, you feel it's all the unions fault.
SOME TOP COMPANY EXEC.'S make in one year what 25 union workers make in a year, yet not one of you clowns mentioned it.
What it really comes down to is that none of you work there or don't have the skills to work for that pay scale.
To the lady who's husband makes 12/hr. If he's not happy then tell him to keep looking.
Also if your employeer came around and said, "hey I think we're going to double, or triple your salary", who would turn it down????
I don't think anyone of us would.
So dont be jelous, just hope that things work out and they stay, our local economy will take a major hit if they leave.

oh really....i worked there from 1995-2003 and retired. so yes , i think i can say a few things ...good or bad. skill .. former gov't certified weldor , self taugh machinest , paint , electrical , reading newspaper , etc.

I hope the people who had there money doubled or tripled, saved it...because if I got a 300% raise, I would definitely bank on it not being forever.....and if they came back five years later and said we had to go back to the old pay scale, i would say, "well it was good while it lasted" and I can say that honestly because it happend to me. I made $28 an hour framing houses, now I make $16....It was good while it lasted....Good ridence to workers that can't that accept reality changes and wages can too. Lets see how bad these workers want to keep Harley in York. You tell them that you will take a $6-$10 an hour cut in pay i bet they will stay.

First off a motorcycle is a TOY. When there is a recession the first thing people stop buying is...TOYS! The fact that these toy builders make $30 an hour and bitch about it is beyond me. Look around the region, the businesses that are making things that matter, not TOYS are still keeping their head above water. I see 10 to 20 Tanks a day coming down 30, business at BAE must be good. Well buddy, enjoy your union, The Obamanation won't be in office forever! Skilled labor is not standing on an assembly line doing the same task over and over and thinking you deserve $80K a year. Chinese do it for a $1.00 an hour and most times better. Unions have no place in this country with existing labor laws.
Join the rest of us working bums, we pay for our health cost, earn what we make because we work hard (not by a union contract that says we are entitled) and educate yourself for a better future. All I have to say, have fun on the unemployment lines because the dream is over, and guess what, your "skilled" labor rates will probably get you about $14.00 an hour in the real world. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!
