When you have issues, I've found that www.HDRidersUSA.com has knowledgeable riders and builders that frequent the site. Lots of answers and wisdom. Worth checking out anyways ...

I have some friends that own/run a motorcycle shop. They service & sell parts for all brands. One of the owners bought a 2010 ultra as she has been riding Harleys since a little girl. The bike ran hot, too hot for her & she's used to it. It turns out the newer ones run hot due to the catalyic converter. She put new pipes on it (less the converter) and it cooled the engine down considerably. I understand they had to move a 2nd oxygen sensor. I hope this anyone with overheating problems. I also came across someone who installed ceramic heads. He said it cooled down by 300 degrees.

I just love these threads, someone buys a used bike then blames the manufacturer for problems. Go buy a used Honda and I'm sure you will be much happier.

I own a 2011 Ultra Limited, the chrome is starting to lift off both rims,(stock rims). Was told by the factory rep that Harley is declining the warranty claim. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

Went for a 4 day ride with my buddies. 2nd day out mid day my FXDWG with only 8,000 miles on it has a major engine malfunction. Left me stranded out in the middle of nowhere in 105 degree weather.
Yea I only use top of the line synthetic oil. Bottom line is when I get this repaired I may possibly be trading it off for something more dependable.
Buyer beware and careful what you wish for, beautiful chrome piece of crap.

Harleys are great for around town and hanging out. They sound good too. If that justifies the price, and u got the money to throw down, then go for it. I'll keep my Yamaha Royal Star Venture with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty for around town and long trips. And it looks damn good too.

Well, I have you considered the Victory bikes instead. Solid bikes man, and they are made in the USA with more US made parts than HD ta' boot. I am looking into getting one in my garage.

i bought a new 2009 1200 sportser low rider. The day i bought and ready to.ride home, my new harley would not start.. The shop put in new spark plug. That should have been a sign.. My bike has choked out as I rode. I called shop, toom it out. they rode it and said it was in my head.. some short time later i took it 40 miles away to another dealer and they thought there were problems. Several days later and parts I went to pick it up. Well i still noticed the problem and they looked at it again. I have had it for 3 years and still running bad I have 3400 miles on it. Now it has a recall on it. Tell me something ... WHO wants an unconforting , unsafe, unpredicting ride with it choking out like someome in pinchimg the fuel line.???? I have been riding for 25 + years.....

I bought a brand new 2011 Street glide had some noise that would not quit, took it to the shop where they found that the compensator had come loose, they put some lock-tite on it and said it was fixed. 2 months later took it back to the shop for the same problem, this time they replaced the whole compensator, now it has been 2 months since the last service and its doing it again, so back to the shop in the morning, I would just like to know what the hell is going on??? I will be damned if im gonna keep taking my bike back to this shop for this same problem

I am having problem with HD 2013 CVO road glide custom front wheel. The specs for the tires are front specification -130/60B19 M/C 61H and rear specification - 180/55B18 M/C 80H. I purchased motorcycle December 1 and immediately had problem with whobbling and vibration in the front wheel and it feels loose. The Dealer changed the wheel and tire but I am still having the same problem. I have had it in to be fixed twice and they have not been able to fix it. The last time the dealer tightened the neck but again I am having the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

For all those complaining about the heat on the right side - simply take off the exhaust covers and wrap the pipes with racing exhaust pipe tape and then replace covers. On my dresser this reeduced the heat about 80% and made it a lot more comfortable to ride, even in 90 degree weather.

My '02 Harley FX Wide Glide dies when I ride for awhile and slow down to turn a corner. I pull it over and it starts up and I can continue. I've changed the regulator and the battery recently. Any ideas what the problem might be?

I wanted to be in the wind so I bought me a 2007 Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster Low last May. Within a years time and 2,000 miles I've had my bike in the shop for squealing/whistling noise in the back end. The first time they replaced the rear rotor and pads. 50 miles after the supposedly repair job I hear the noise again. I have Vance & Hines pipes on my bike and its embarassing when I hear the noise over the pipes. Now my bike is in the shop for the third time and they tell me they've replaced everything in the back end and it still has the noise. Any help on what I should do. They won't even give me a loaner bike while my bike is in the shop. Help.
Just ride the hell out of it!!!! "HARD" and seewhat happens after a couple of thousand miles.

If it's shutting off when you make a turn check to make sure the battery is't moving from side to side, and the ground on the battery is't touching the frame, had a friend that his battery tender negative wire kept grounding to the frame and it would loose all power we were 500 miles out on a trip and I fixed it in about 10 minutes. Harley has internal ground and if the negative wire grounds against the frame in will act like the battery is disconnected, and if it has an adapter for a battery tender take it off and try it.
