I wanted to be in the wind so I bought me a 2007 Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster Low last May. Within a years time and 2,000 miles I've had my bike in the shop for squealing/whistling noise in the back end. The first time they replaced the rear rotor and pads. 50 miles after the supposedly repair job I hear the noise again. I have Vance & Hines pipes on my bike and its embarassing when I hear the noise over the pipes. Now my bike is in the shop for the third time and they tell me they've replaced everything in the back end and it still has the noise. Any help on what I should do. They won't even give me a loaner bike while my bike is in the shop. Help.

CityMike62 if I where you I would check with Maryland State Consumer Affairs Dept and see if your
State has a LEMON LAW. If so, you may have recourse
to get the problem resolved or return the bike to
the dealer for a refund. New Jersey has such laws
but if you don't ask the Dealer is certainly not
going to tell you. By the way which dealer was the
bike purchased from?

My wife does buy-backs for GM, all states have some sort of lemon law. They differ a little from state to state but they go something like this....3X same issue or loss of use 30+ days in a year. Yea the dealer will never tell you this. Oh yea the bikes that the factory mechanics school uses for their students are all lemon law buy backs. There are ALOT of them. Im not sure what they hell they did but since 06-07 there has been alot of issues since then including over heating, I hear theyre running them real lean trying to stay out of trouble with the EPA. My advice is buy a pre-06' and ride the hell out of it.

Acutally a much less painful way to clear up this matter is to call Harley Customer Service in Milwaukee. I had a recurring charging system issue with a 2006 Buell. The bike had been into the shop 5 times without a fix. Customer Service sent factory reps to my dealer and they couldn't solve it either. I total my bike was in the shop for31 days in the first 6000 miles. Bottom-line customer service was awesome. Once I told them that Harley needed to step up and support the product or I would have to seek legal remedy, they responded quickly and offered me a new bike. I understand how frustrating it is to have a problem with your bike especially when it leaves you stranded on the road side like mine. But give customer service a chance. My experience was very nice and they fully stand behind their product. howell63fverizon.net

howell, I think you are either a very patient person or a motor company employee. If when I bought my new sportster for almost 10K and it left me stranded that many times, I'd be getting my money back and finding another ride! Bottom line, the dealer shouldhave stepped up and provided you with a replacement until they (with the help of the factory) solved the problem, not returned the bike to you and have it fail over and over again! Why couldn't the dealer fix it? Maybe because they don't have anyone who is qualified on Buell?

The comments made by Howell are accurate, Harley Customer Service is a less painful and expensive way to go. I am going through it now with them, nothing yet, but an acquaintance of mine went through this 4 years ago and Harley Customer Service. Harley settled the issue for him too and hopefully for me.

I bought a 09 rocker in 02/27/09. It has beeen in the shop severl times called customer care but they said since the shop i bought it from accessorized it and thats my problem that there is nothing they can do. But see i thought that since it was new and only had five miles on it they should stand behind it.I was told one of the times of taking my bike in that it was going to be a week five and half weeks later i had it out with the owner of mid america columbia harley lawyer was said. Then they took it opon theirseleves to raise my bike up. Note i bought the bike from them with a lowering kit on this bike. Now my 09 rides worse then a hardtail and it is a rocker also now that i have got it back from my complaint it is worse. Also one of the very many times of the complaint i was told by the sales manger that i should have looked at the bike a little closer. I have tried time after time to get something done about it but was unable to.

I am looking to put Vance and Hines short shots on my 2009 883 Sportster/Iron. I have researched fuel packs/Dynojet/Ridermaxx and a couple other options(dealership download included) but still unsure which route to take.?.? If anyone has an opinion and/or solution I would appreciate your time. Thanks

On my 08 dyna a small of oil seeps out of the crankcase breather tubes that come out of motor
into the air breather.some of the oil runs back
down the fins where the air breather bolts to
the motor. Is that a sign of to much oil in the motor,or what.

HD 2010 Trike is a disappointment. 20mpg. Talked to sales manager at dealership and they suggested spending more money and getting a stage 1 kit. This bike gets no where near the posted mileage and the dealership just want me to spend more money. How do we report these issues to Harley Corporate?

Bought a 2008 Fatboy. Intermittant starting problem since November 2009. Its been in and out of the dealers approx 6 times with a total of about 10 days a stay. They just give me a load of crap about loose connections etc. Still has exactly the same problem as last November !! Bikes done 18 miles since April because I cant rely on it starting - how the hell to progress this !! I really dont think the dealer knows about electrics

I just love these threads, someone buys a used bike then blames the manufacturer for problems. Go buy a used Honda and I'm sure you will be much happier.
