I simply do not understand why Harley is selling
MV but closing Buell? If you are so short of
cash, and you never understood what how to incorporate Buell into you product lines, why close
a viable bike manufacturer, why not sell it ??
If a group could re-start the Indian motorcycle
company (again) there must be some group out there
that could arrange the deal. Or is Harley afraid
of creating another competitor that will take sales
away from their over-prced, under-engineered, over-heating hog's

Buell is integrated with HD as MV is standalone.

Jeff, Give me a break! Have you ever been in a
Harley Dealership during an open house? I have and
not a Buell to be seen! Only in the last few months
have dealerships started showchasing Buell. Did
harley sponsor a factory team, NO. Ironic that this
year a private Buell team took the Superbike championship, but all Harley is interested in is
drag racing! Little of no advertising doesnt drive
sales. Further, most harley dealerships have NO
orentation to Sport riders, hence few if any would
visit a harley "store". I had to go to the New Yord bike show to see the new buells. And how was
Buell intergrated? They had seperate, non-union
assembly lines, and no longer based on harley engines. Maybe that is why, whey Buell went to
Rotix (that was a technological driven company
does) their days where numbered.

Buell wasn't marketable enough to sale. The bikes didn't sale well. MV had a history of their own, and had nothing to do with Harley, it was a bad buy, but saved the hit from downing Buell. Indian has started and failed a number of times under numerous ownership over the last 10 years. Indian will never be the same un fortunately. Buells were fun, but were the laughing stock of the Harley community. It's like serving a burrito with spaghetti, they just don't go together, and that's why Buell failed. They couldn't go on their own to start with, and they couldn't partner with anyone besides Harley because they were using Harley motors. However the HD riders rejected them, and the Buell demographic and HD demographic were not the same.

HDEMP I would agree with your comments, HD & Buell
did not go together. Why, whey HD decided to invest 51% and take control of Buell didnt they create a seperate market channel for Buell? Harley riders where not going to buy a sport bike & and
sport bikers have no interest in HOG's! What evolved was a stupid product placement in an environment where it was not going to be successful. Further, HD did little to promote Buell, and most Harley dealers I have been in
ignored the products.
