Electric scooters are still in their infancy. Battery technology needs to improve before they will be accepted as a serious and viable means of cheap transportation. At present, the Mfg's speed and miles/charge stats are somewhat exaggerated. If the technology continues to improve, electric scooters will gain in popularity.

"Battery technology needs to improve before they will be accepted as a serious and viable means of cheap transportation. At present, the Mfg's speed and miles/charge stats are somewhat exaggerated"
Electric scooter performance will have to improve to generate a demand for them. Whether it will or not remains to be seen.
