OK, maybe this is a non existant person, and their posting is moot.
But what if it isn't and they have some real concerns, then what?
I doubt that anyone with true concerns with post here or Borowhiners, but then again that isn't a guarantee either
Then that would be answer B.

The person either:
A. Does not exist. The most likely answer
B. Is an idiot for closing on the single most profitable weekend for most businesses in the area.
You choose.
I agree with option A. I have not seen one business closed only for bike week since the event started.

I have discussed bike week with some business owners and their problem is that all the employees want to work that week because they say the bikers are some of the most courteous and friendly customers they have, and are the best tippers.

again it's not a guarantee, so were not 100% sure. This may be a person who does have these concerns, how should they address it?
Who should they approach with any concerns?

They should approach a mirror and wonder why they are so small minded and bigoted.

Every other business in town sees it as a financial boon or at least no different than an average week.

May I suggest that if in fact there is such a person who still has concerns even after years of bike week in Gettysburg with no reports of incidents involving the visiting bikers, perhaps they should talk with the other merchants in the area. Talk to them, ask about their experiences. What do they do for security?

Actually, that's a good idea and something that the concerned party should consider. Thanks for a good suggestion, hopefully the concerned party will see your response

how does having security concerns make someone small minded? Do you lock your home every night before going to bed? Do you lock your home before leaving to head off to work? Don't you trust your neighbors? How small minded and bigoted of you, you know the people that surround your home, yet you feel the need to lock your doors, why?

Having security concerns does not make one small minded. I lock my vehicle no matter where I am as soon as I get out of it. I do lock my house every time I leave. My wife and daughters have a legal form of pepper spray on their key chains. During the day I will park away from the main entrance to buildings letting the closer spaces for the elderly and woman with young children. I will take short cuts through alleys to get where I want or need to go during the day. But at night I park only in well lit areas, and only walk well lit areas. These are some safety and security measures everyone can and should take.

But, to say that a certain type of person is more of a hazard or threat than another because they ride a motor cycle, wear a specific type of apparel, or have a specific religious or ethnic background is small minded.

I judge people as individuals. I do not say I welcome everyone with open arms, but until someone shows me that I should not trust them I give them the benefit of the doubt. When I did work in retail sales for the tourist industry, my key was groups of people congregating in a specific area, especially if one person was constantly glancing at me, or individuals in the store who were constantly moderating my location.

I wonder if this fictitious individual questions all of his customers to find out if they ride motorcycles before he lets them into his store? You would be surprised at the number of people I have talked to at bike week who come to Gettysburg several times a year, often with the family driving the mini van or SUV. But bike week gives them a chance to visit and ride their bike enjoy the scenery and history and be with other bikers.

Just wait, I guarantee there will be a Hell's Angels vs. Pagans riot with gunfire and stabbings and dangerous men unleashing their fury.

I can't wait until this Bike Week blows up in the middle of this footnote of a town and the apologists on here will be making excuses.

Then they will blame it on the gangs which I read have already sunk their teeth into this place.

I lock my home before bed and work but not only on bike week. I don't single out a group. Hopefully you can figure that out.

How many bike weeks so far with no problems. What makes you so sure this year will be different? Are you one of those outlaw bikers who will be coming to cause problems?

No I think over your head. To take precautions is only a sound practice for anyone. But to have the opinion that a certain group of people present a greater threat just because they belong to a certain group of people is small minded.

You read into what you want, you've done this many times, not just to myself but to others. HOw's that casino issue working for you? It was funny to watch how crazy some of the locals got. Funnier still, you didn't get it, now its neighbor hates neighbor, sad for a small community such as yours

Please explain your position then. You are absolutely backing an indefensible position but I'll let you try. read my posts SLLLLOOOWWLLLYYY and at least attempt to grasp their meaning. If, after all of that, you still don't get it I'll explain in simpler terms.

I see you get your information from the same source as Davenport. Where is the neighbor hates neighbor attitude demonstrated? Those of us who live here have disagreements about many things. That is the great thing about living in America, we don't have to agree with everything that happens in our community, or even in the nation. In a community like OURS people think differently and have different opinions on most anything but in the end we are all neighbors and care about OUR community.

As a matter of fact, from what I see on these forums, most of the people from the local area posting on here have pretty much the same opinion about many things. And many are ready to defend OUR community when people attack and slander it.

And as you pointed out it is OUR community.
