Minivans have a perception problem. But as boring and boxy as they may be, minivans provide more room and utility for a large family than just about any other vehicle. via Popular Mechanics

Glad to see idiots have a place to rant. I thought the intent of this forum was to encourage open discussion of problems to foster resolution.

The 2 of you should move your mindless banter to Myspace with the rest of the aimless youth.

i worked for gm for 14 years and i now own a 2003 dodge grand caravan es ,3.8 liter ,it seems when i am passing and i step on it it revs ok but seems to have a lag before it starts to pick up speed ,does not seem like trans is slipping ,does not miss ,just seems to kick down into passing gear and does not rev higher or accellerate for a second or so then it seems like it hit a power band and starts to accel, by the way i love this van ,has power doors and liftgate ,great job by chrysler and the assembly workers ,cudos, anyone not happy with the grand caravan should try a pontiac montana or uplander if they want some problems ,why does a guy that worked for gm own chrysler products?I would not purchase a gm van and the ford windstar/freestar seemed very cheap ,interior is full of budget grade plastic and the exterior appearance still leaves a lot to be desired .1 more question how is the 3.8 liter engine for durability ? i have owned 3.3 liter engine in the past and they seem to be bulletproof.

Check out this thread. They seem to have found the problem about midway through 2008.

I am having a problem with my 2008 signature van T&C. When I open the left side door from the over head button it will open, when I try to close it from the side panel button it will not. Any idea?My car has about 5000 miles on it. When we did get it I took it in because I could hear a popping sound, now I am wondering if this popping sound had something to do with the lock. They were unable to deteremine what was causing the sound and that now I think about it I have not heard it lately.
Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

Mary, your van was built in Canada. In Canada, they prefer to ship junk out the door and let the dealers or customers deal with it. Buy a Toyota or Honda next time. They're at least built in the USA.

Mary, georgia lost his job..He's bitter and has nothing better to do then come on this site and cause trouble..Your van may have been built in Canada, but georgia may have built it too..
Every vehicle brand has bugs to iron out. l regret that you happen to have one of the few with a problem..l'm sure they'll figure it out and fix it for you.

So aggervated. I bought my town and country touring out of the show room four and a half years ago. Only 33,0000 miles on it at this time. Problem after problem. I to am having issues with the left sliding door self returning to close but when it does the wipers and dash lights all go on. I am currently pushing for another recall on these doors since there one recall was about wires being improperly routed and the bracket can make contact with it and wear the insulation and wire. Obviously what they did was not enough. Please write if you are experiencing the same issue with the doors. I believe this issue to be a safety issue especially since the door comes back on it's own. I have children that use that door! Chrysler needs to fix these problems along with the list of many other things wrong. Sorry I ever bought a chrysler i will never do it again.

2008 grand caravan sliding doors freeze when temps drop below 1c. Anyone have the same problems? Not power doors. Have had rental vehicle since dec 5. Chrysler says they have never heard of this problem. Dealership useless
I have a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and live at 10,000 ft in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Both y manual slidin door freeze at 32 degrees and below which is about 3/4 of the year. The only way to get in when this happens is to crawl through the cargo or front and push on the door or kick it whie someone else tries to open it from the back. Hard to do with a baby in a busy parking lot!
