The first time I saw Ace he was 12 years old and doing one handed pull ups on the Green St School playground. At 12 he was fully grown and a truly awesome physical speciman.

A true character who was part of the Brattleboro scenery for decades. No matter the weather he would be out there in tight blue jeans and a sleeveless tee shirt.

I got into the ring with him to spar once in the early 1970's and by running a bit was able to keep him from taking my head off. He thanked me for the workout and encouraged me to come and spar with him again. I was smart enough to know that once was enough.

When a character like Ace leaves us which should pause to reflect that it takes all of us to make a world and it takes some of us, like Ace, to provide the spices that make life so wonderful.
