Crown Council

#1 Jan 2, 2013
As most Westerners have become aware of Burma's beauty and the legacies of its colonial era 1886-1948, they have begun to respect Burmese culture, traditions and Buddhism. Thanks to tireless efforts of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Shwebomin of Burma, who roams Europe and visits America frequently to lobby for ongoing political reforms.
Burmese people are urged to be most helpful to the open-minded foreign visitors, with legendary Burmese hospitality.
It is inportant to explain that the term ' lonegyi' is the common description of the cloth tube worn by both genders. It means ' cover and tie up'. To be more phonetically accurate, it should be transliterated as 'lohn (as in ohn) gyi'. A minor point.
In Burmese, gyi is written as chi but pronounced gyi.
When the lohngyi is for men it is called ' pasoe' and for women ' tamein'.
Many Westerners have become appreciative of the beauty of Buddhism and how it helps Burmese to find solace in difficult times like in the dark era that started with the imported Wesrern ideology of socialism.
The Crown Council (of Burma) hopes that the world, particularly the West, will welcome to the family of nations with wide open arms and also visit Burmese to enjoy the hospitality and generosity of Burmese people.
