Burma's Rohingya Muslims: Aung San Suu Kyi's blind spot

Aug 19, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Independent

They suffer appalling violence and discrimination, but so far Aung San Suu Kyi has been notably silent on their plight Jerome Taylor first came to The Independent in 2005 and joined the Foreign Desk.

Independent writes rubbish.
Jerome Taylor has the colonist mindset, without respect for the Burmrse.

Rohingyas are illegal immigrants, whose ancestors were imported into Burma against the will of helpless Burmese, when at the end of the first Anglo-Burmese War 1824-26 England colonised the narrow coastal strip called Yakhine.

Rohingyas have no right to Burmese nationality. They do not sprak Burmese and they are muslims. They should be accepted by Bangladesh.

Zarni at LSE is no Burmese expert, only a stooge of English neocolonislists.
His livelihood depends on England. So he is prone to treason as far as Burma is concerned.

Suu Kyi is very cunning right from the beginning. She knows Rohingyas have no right to Burmese nationality. But she will not say that. If she does she will lose all credibility, that is dubious anyway.
If she bows to English, who had created her as a world figure out of an obscure Oxford housewife, and declares Rohingyas are Burmese, she will be finished politically.
And her lust for power will never be satisfied.
She has been squatting in the house that also belongs to her brother AungSanOo, who disowned her for marrying Michael Aris; that was an act of treason, quite correctly. It was the agents of the English who killed her father General AungSan, Burma' s most revered hero in modern history.
The English coloniser left behind two vilest legacies in Burma: the Rohingyas and the Panglong independence agreement that Clement Attlee duped AungSan and the leaders from other Burmese tribes. Panglong stipulated that Burma can break up 10 years from the date of infependence.
So SuuKyi is trapped by the two vilest legacies of English colonialism.
Dismiss Independent as nothing more than a mouthpiece of neocolonislism. For that matter treat all English media including the BBC in the same way.

this argument is rubbish.
brtish also imported immigrants from india and china into then malaya. yet we still coexist peacefully.

no excuse for Suu Kyi to turn blind eye. there's a difference between a statesman and politician. she turned out to be a politician. hell bent on being re-elected from day 1.

No act of the coloniser is justified. What right did England have to transfer people in the form of soft slave trade in the first place?
Why do you suck up to colonialism? To justify Rohingyas colonising a part of Yakhine? You talk rubbish, thinking selectively. Rohingyas in Burma are a ghetto, who neither assimilate or respect the people of Burma.
They must be expelled from Burma. They are an extention of English colonoalism. The Chinese in Malaysia, like others including Muslim, do not intimidate other races. They contribute to Malaysia without imposing their way of life on others.
Rohimhyas pose very serious threat Buddhist culture and way of life. Buddhists do not practise honour killing, forced marriage and forced conversion, and bombing mosques like the Taliban destroying two giant Buddha statues, world heritage.
Besides, overwhelming majority of Burmese people DEMOCRATICALLY want Rohingyas out of Burma.
The sovereign state of Burma will reject any imposition from ex-coloniser and the lackes.
SuuKyi had stupidly talked of minototy right and rule to enhance her chances for power, without understanding the need for nationality.
In the UK the current parliament cannot bind any future parliament.
What the colomiser did to Burma cannot bind Burma.
Bangladesh must accept their own people back in Bangladesh.
Ignorant people must study what happened in Northern Ireland - murders - because the English imported Scots into Ireland during English supremacy.

this kind of thinking reflects a dangerous psyche : siege mentality.
the same kind of mentality that drives ethnic cleansing all over the world. hutu killing tutsi in rwanda, serbs on muslim in bosnia, apartheids in south africa, buddist in myanmar

all of them afflicted by 'siege mentality'. that everyone else is going after them. these racist bstards have this common trait.

wrong!

they tried to rule this country by force right after the end of world war 2. they formed Communist Party of Malaya and launched a revolt resulting a state of emergency in 1950-1960 and limited emergency 1969-1988. but they were beaten back. granted, that not all chinese are behind them. but their intention is clear.

wrong again! they did try to impose their way. but the leaders of this country know how to contain that without bloodshed.

yet malay still accomodating to chinese. its a trait that burmese clearly do not have.

Don't be stupid. They have learnt the tricks of the Englidh coloniser. First they were used by the English. Then they took advantage of the Burmese just like the English coloniser did. The coloniser had left but the Rohingyas stayed on. They must leave Burma. It is not their country.
Now they have become an instrument of Islamic colonialism.
Why can't they just leave Burma.

Are you blind or just very ignorant muslim hell bent on spreading Idlam.
You are also ignorant of history.
Communists trying to turn Malaya (not Malaysia at that time) into a communist state was an ideological warfare, supported by the Malays themselves as backlash against English colonialism, not understanding that communism is another form of colonialism.
Don't compare Burma with South Africa or any other country.
Burma is a 3000 year old monarchy.
Burmese don't want illegal immigtants Rohingyas in Burma.
Don't interfere in Burma's internal affairs. None of your business.
Best policy of ASEAN is not to interfere in member states' internal affairs.
You like most ignorant Asians do not unferstand world politics; you have frog in the well syndrome.
You don't even understand that England playing balance of power in Europe had caused many European wars.
Leave Burma alone. For the sake of ASEAN UNITY.

No country has to accept illegal immigtants, whether they came of their volition or they were dumped by a coloniser.
All advanced democracies quarantine them. France has a camp called SANGETTE where thousands of illegal immigrants, mostly Muslims, are kept in detention.

Getting rid of aliens, illegal immigrants, has nothing to do with ethnic cleansing.

Are Shiites ethnic cleansing Sunis in Syria.

Boy Kasim, leave Burma alone. Take your muslim brothers away from Burma. You don't even know eastern half of Bangladesh belonged to Burma. So did Penang.
Malaysia was never one sovereign kingdom like Burma. It is a modern concoction - nothing so long as it works.

Pathetic demented Kasim, muslim colonist, blinded by desire to expand Islam. Ignorant of history. Even the English today accept that Rohingyas were imported into Burma from the then East Bengal. The past generations were dead and gone.
The current generations had entered illegally as the poor and weakened Burma could not afford border guards to stop illegal immigrants. Legitimate Burmese muslims speak Burmese as fluently as any next Burmese. But the Rohingyas don't speak Birmese at all because they are illegal immigrants. In the UK even legal immigrants have to pass English and citizenship exams and swear allegiance to the Queen to get British citizenship.
I AM BRITISH NOT BURMESE. I know as a historian the wrongs England had committed against. I am Scottish.

Burma had been far too weak to deal with the Rohingyas who are illegal immigrants. They had taken advantage of weak Burma.

Burma is a sovereign state and dealing with the Rohingyas as humanly as possible containing the excited native Buddhist Burmese.

Rohingyas are illegal immigrants and treating them as such has nothing to do with ethnic cleansing.

Clean your tongue, Kasim. It is far too dirty. In any case, why are you interfering in Burma's internal affairs? You were silent when the Taliban were destroying the two giant Buddha statues in Afghanistan.

You are nothing but an Islamic religio colonist.

Kasim, you are getting more and more stupid. I have many Malaysian friends, amongst them was the late governor of Sarawak, not Raja Brooks. My friends are native Malays, not like you, stupid muslim immigrant or son of immigrant.
You are ignorant person. You can't compare Burma with South Africa, where a vast majority of black natives were treated like slaves by immigrant whites from England and Europe.
Burma is just coping with a terrible legacy of English colonialism.

You are beyond the pale, muslim boy Kasim. And you are not a native Malay and you are playing the divide-and-rule game, setting Malays against the Malaysian Chinese. Shsme on you. Curb your muslim ambitions. Have you seen the remarks by Burmese muslims? They don't want Rohingyas in Burma.

We (Malaysia)? You are not Malaysia. Don't kid yourself. You are not Malay either. You are just a muslim expansionist, son of immigrants. Indonesians are muslims. So are the Malays. There is a strong shared religious value between them. I know you don't like the Chinese.

Malaysia is south-east Asia's melting pot, of different races and religions; quite good. That is because Malaysia is a new country unlike Burma.
Burmese are mongoloids, overwhelmingly Buddhist, with a unique and beautiful culture.
Obviously, you have never been to Burma and know nothing about Burmese history.
History makes us what we are.
You being an immigrant, you have no history other than immigrant history. You don't even know where you originally come from. Were you ancestors imported into Malaya by the English?

Anyway do try to study Buddhist philosophy to open your closed or blind muslim eyes.
