The Township of Lake of Bays was not immune to the winter blast Friday.
Public works director Tom Brown estimated that the municipality received more than 40 cm of snow during that day, most of which was dumped in the southern region of the township.
He added that the township declared the storm “a significant event,” which allowed their eight public works employees to work longer hours to clear the snow under the Ministry of Transportation’s regulations.
“We were out pretty much every day before Friday,” he said.
Doughty was able to find some humour even during the height of the snowstorm.
“A couple of Toronto folks asked if we were calling in the army. I said,‘No, we are saving them for the G8.’ They all got a chuckle out of that,” he said.
