Ya know, I finally figured it out. You spend most of your time on Mets threads. Even on Yankee threads, you say more about the Mets than the Yanks.

You're a closet Mets fan!

Wasn't the third base ump today the same guy who blew the play at home yesterday on Teixeira? Maybe he just didn't pay attention the day they taught about tags.
Yup, that was him, same guy! I just read that he told Jeter he called him out because the throw beat him there. Evidently he doesn't know there's no force in that situation or the one at the plate yesterday! Oh well, it's all part of the game. Truth is, Jeter shouldn't have been trying to steal 3rd in that situation.

Did you just cheer yourself on with this post?? haha

I don't think any real fan would blame this loss on the umps bad calls. Yes there was a couple of pretty bad calls that did not help the Yanks, but giving up 7 runs is why they lost this game plain and simple. The Yanks have had alot of amazing comeback wins this year. Today fell a little short and was not one of them. Hopefully the Yanks will continue to play good ball on this west coast swing and end the first half on a high note.

Are you retarded? One of the calls contributed to 3 of those 7 runs.
Even if he hit it the next inning it would have only been one run. Pay attention.

haha So then the Yanks would have won 6 to 5? Come on guy. I'm a life long Yankee fan and you can't blame this game simply on bad calls. Pettite should take no blame for the home run cause of the bad call? Seems like you might be the one thats just a wee bit retarded. So settle down Skippy.

3 out of 4 from Toronto and the Sox got slapped around by Oakland tonight. 1 game back and out west we go.

Amazing how Yanks fans cry when an umps call does'nt go the Yanks way. Funny I never hear you complaining when the Yanks get the benefit of a call just about every time. This team throughout it's history has been the recipient of calls going their way. Reggie stepping into a throw to 1st to deflect the ball, Jeffrey Meier, 3rd strike non-call to Tino, and these were huge bad calls against a Yanks opponent in big post-season games that helped the Yanks to win these games. I saw that play today with Jeter. By the letter of the rules, he was safe! However, as I have seen a million times in baseball, if the ball beats the runner to the base most times the ump will call you out tag or no tag. Btw, Capt. Jeter is one of the best in the game at making that quick tag play where he rarely really tags the runner himself so how many times in his career has he been getting outs called like that himself. So big deal, a call finally went against him. And bad call or not that was a bad play, more like a play that the stupid Mets would do.

Two of the Umps should be suspended for 5 games and ordered to review the rule book and get an eye examination.

Between the umps blown calls, and the infielder turned outfielder for the Blue Jays (Batista) making great catches, I just had a feeling it wasn't going to be their day. Classic line by Jeter though, "I wasn't aware there was a rule change". Though I am not condoning stealing 3rd with no outs, still a great line.

The third base ump on Monday,July 6 2009 was a fat piece of crap. Umps should know the rules of baseball. Ump Marty Foster stinks like a piece of crap and can not make a good call, but other umps are horrible also.YOU SUCK FOSTER !!!!!!!!!!

No, but the Yankees and writers are not blaming the umpires, lose your attitude and re-read the articles.
They are saying the blown calls contributed to the loss, and any reasonable person would not find anything wrong with that.
Umpires are supposed to make correct calls, borderline and judgement calls are either bad or good depending on whether your teams gets the benefit of the close call, but obvious blown calls or calls made because the umpire was asleep at the switch and put himself in a terrible position to see properly should not be condoned and written off as "duh, it's part of the game"
Remember the how many home runs calls the umps had overturned in the first week of baseball this year!!!???
Baseball needs instant replay, but the games are torturly too long as it is, so that will probably never happen. Too bad.
This ump was not asleep at the switch as you put it. The ump thought he was right based on the fact that the ball beat Jeter to the bag. Jeter got around the tag, and didnt get the call. Tell me the difference between this call and what they call the neighborhood play at second base. Nothing. Many times it would be Jeter himself with his foot two feet off the bag at second while catching the ball to make the doubleplay at first. all of a sudden he thinks umps change the rules. What about when the annoucers say "the umps strike zone" isnt the strike written in the rule book too. It is not different for every umpire, yet they get away with it. Make them all stick to the rules or let them all see it the way they want to see it. We all know, when bad things happen to the perfect, Jeter, all of a sudden the media goes crazy.

Maybe the difference is that the "neighborhood play" involves a force out at second, while yesterday wasn't a force, and required a tag for Jeter to be out.
