Building Target field= 545 million
Paying for the most expensive singles hitter in the game for 8 years= 184 million
Watching in person one of the nine starters GIDP=$57
Predicting with certitude that with Gardy at the helm, the twins will never beat a Eastern division team = PRICELESS

Span is not a centerfielder and Cuddyer has 11 RBI in 7 weeks and that's just the start of it....By August 1st: 5 games out of first (at least).

Gardy must be fired. An automatic loss on Saturday when they play the AAA day lineup following a night game.

Most dissapointing loss of the season. This team can't handle being up on any body. Slowey throws terrible pitches. Young has cement for hands. Crudyer just plain sucks. Guerrier...terrible. F. Mauer is Mr warning track. Unless they get Lee they have no chance.

they are a very sorry team right now. I had such high hopes for this team as they burst out of the gate when the season started. This team is falling apart before our eyes and nothing is being done by management to fix it. The clutch hitting is in the tank, they hit into more effin double plays than is humanly possible, the bullpen absolutley blows, and on and on. There is still plenty of season left but with no fire, no leader, no sense of urgency I doubt anything will change other than their freefall from contention in baseball's worst division....
When does training camp start?....first exhibition game in a month so at least we will have the Favre circus to look forward to again....

The positive out of this is that Gardenhire recognizes everything that went wrong on the field.

Young and Span not being on the same page, allowing a double to be a home run...the pitching with major meltdowns...

This team is hitting its low point, but there is way too much fire power in this lineup to think they won't rebound.

A winning streak will build confidence, unfortunately that hasn't happened in a while.

Gardy needs to show some of the fire he displays when disputing a call in the clubhouse. If players aren't focused, he needs to make some moves. Playing Cuddyer every day in different positions is just going to wipe him out. The bullpen needs some rear-end kicking, or some personnel changes. Some of these guys need to put down some bunts if they can't buy a hit with runners on base. The Twins need to run more. I'm afraid it is leadership that appears to be lacking. There are some real problems executing on fundamentals and maybe Gardy should lead some "extended spring training" after one of these dreadful games.

The Twins can still go a long way this year, but they need to get it together...soon.

Lots of people will blame the errors in the outfield on the loss, but the Twins are showing that their pitching isn't really much better than Toronto's. If one looks at the batting averages of the Toronto starting line-up, it's clear enough that the Twins have been facing a mediocre ball club, although Toronto has some homerun hitters. It's a little bit disturbing to think that the Blue Jays and the Twins are "evenly matched."

Let's hope that Morneau and Young are okay. Gardenhire will probably want to rest Mauer, too, and get Punto in the line-up--for the rubber game. He'll claim that he wants everyone healthy and rested going into Detroit.

The last post was a bit hasty, stemming from disappointment, obviously. The Twins still have great potential this season, and they're the best team in the division. The White Sox just lost Peavy for the season. So, what needs to be done? The Twins should bring in Cliff Lee if they can and possibly make some changes within the batting order. Something needs to be done about all the double plays, too. How a team solves that problem is something a big league manager must have a clue about though it has to be rough since he's not the one swinging the bat.

A "stud" hits 4 home-runs and has 35 (or whatever) RBI's at the All star break. A stud grounds into a DP at least once per game? A "stud" has to sitat least twice a week?

I Think not.

I'm not ready to stick a fork in the Twins yet but
let's see some changes. I said last fall when Gomez
was traded that the outfield defense for the Twins
would be the worst in the league with Span, Young &
Cuddyer/Kubel. They've proved me right. Span is a
disaster in center. Last night was the 4th or 5th
time he's collided with other fielders. He has the
speed but not the arm or glove. He was in position
to catch the homerun ball on Sunday and the double
by Wells last night and just didn't make the play.
Young, Cuddyer and Kubel can all throw but their
gloves leave a little to be desired. Kubel at least
usually catches everything he gets to. Let's pick up a defensive centerfielder who can hit .250 and
move Span to right and leave Cuddyer at 3rd. He's
no more of a liabilty at 3rd than RF. Span has look
ed good in right before. Keep Punto on the bench
where he belongs to relieve Hudson/Hardy each 1 day
a week (not the days that Butera catches- Gardy).
Slowey sucks all the time and Gurrier has cost them
3 games this week alone. Twins should have 55-56
wins by now!!!
