On This Day: Roberto Clemente Dies in Plane Crash

On Dec. 31, 1972, Roberto Clemente, all-star outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was killed en route to deliver assistance to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.

Thanks for writing this article, so everyone can learn about this great man. My son wears a Clemente t-shirt often, and grown men stop him and tell him what a great man he is commemorating, often with tears in their eyes.
