Rather than focus on his apparent candor his response should have been.
I am only 33 years old so when I look at players past and present particularly a guy like Jeter,I am motivated to not only justify my ridiculous paycheck but get myself in the best shape to play 5 more years!

Mobility and speed decline, but not necessarily strength and power.
