Mets fall to Expos on Opening Day

Now a whole new country can laugh at the Mets , and in two languages no less. The Montreal Expos , who show signs of taking themselves too seriously, yesterday did in three hours and 35 minutes what the Mets have not been able to do in eight years.

The start of the great Summer of "69. The best baseball year of my life. The Amazin' Mets embark on their World Championship season. I remember this game.

Typical loser Newsday, bashing teh Mets back then and still bashing them today. I guess Ed Hershey was the esshole Wally Matthews of 69....losers

Ah, memories. I remember that game well. It looked like the same old Mets that year after that game. I guess they turned it around some. But losing was still fun that day, and riding home on the train on the Port Washington Line a good time was had by me and all my friends. 1969 is still the most majical year in my life. Little did I know that the Mets would become a big part of it later that year.
