Pedro: I'm ready if Mets want me

Full story: Newsday

In Pedro Martinez 's ideal world, he will be wearing a Mets uniform this season and pitching at "the new Shea." "If they want a fifth starter, I've been there," Martinez said yesterday.

27 wins in 5 years as a Met. Is Pedro getting younger? I would pass, thanks.

Mets should pass because he'll only get injured. Amazing career from a little guy competing against many juice heads. Next stop HOF, not Met uniform.

I would sign him. He's healthy and pitching well. Just his attitude alone and the way he brings a clubhouse to life is a great reason, they should talk to him about middle relief now that they released Sanchez.

Yeah, he'd be a great bet to help this team, especially in light of the fact that in the last two years of his contract (in which he made about 12 million per year) he was 8-7 in a combined 25 starts. He should offer to pitch for free.

The Mets would sign Pedro if Pedro would accept a heavily incentive laden contract. Pedro wants guaranteed money...

If it was me, I'd pass. Pedro needs to understand because who you are doesn't mean you will be better than you've shown, especially over the last 2 seasons...

I think they should give him a shot...if they were willing to keep julio franco around a few years ago, virtually wasting a roster spot, just because of his 'presence' on the team...why not give pedro, a guy whose career has been much more credible, and who has the same, if not better, effect on the clubhouse, and who may just have 1 good year left?...

The Mets are fools if they don't bring him back as a 5th starter. Are they really trying to say it's about money? Please. That's a joke. Duaner Sanchez gets $276K for being released and they don't have money to pay a hall of famer to back up the rotation? The guys Omar plans on having in the 5th slot are awful. They spent money on the bullpen, so why not use them? Pedro can pitch 5-6 innings then bring in the high-priced relievers. Come on man, it's a no brainer!

Pedro on the cheap wouldn't hurt because he could start of fill in as #5 or rotate in and out of the bullpen. Pedro is done, but so are the Mets if they don't get another pitcher. Pitching wins championships.

Daily Horoscope for November 12

Cancer

You'll be quite happy at home tonight, as the Moon transits your fourth house of home and family; however, your mate may want to go out on the town. You'll be torn between what you want to do and what your most significant other desires. Don't go out if you think you will be miserable; that will only start a fight. Be honest about the way you feel, and don't be hurt if you spend the evening alone this time.
