Milwaukee Brewers

Jose Contreras, Paul Konerko lead Chicago White Sox to 7-1 victory

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Jose Contreras isn't Jake Peavy, but he's pitching like a hired gun. Contreras continued his comeback effort Saturday with eight innings of two-hit ball that enabled the White Sox to coast to a 7-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers before a sellout crowd of 44,100 at Miller Park.

Wouldn't you stop booking Saturday home day games if your team was 0-16 in them over a 2 year period?

2 outs, bottom 9, 7-1 lead and a pitching change? If Thorton gets hurt tomorrow or is needed and can't pitch, it's on Ozzie.

The Sox need to sign LHP Noel Arguellez today.

Whats up with Contreras? All of a sudden he becomes an ace of a pitcher? Makes you want to resign him, but no. They should give him a few more starts to up his value and trade him finally.

Yup. He's still incredibly overpaid @ 10MM but a couple more like this and I could see some interest in him.

Great job by Contreras. I guess the Sox rushed him back before he was fully recovered. Too bad Linebrink blew the shutout. What is up with him?

Money and prospects do not matter to a team desperate to bring playoff baseball to their faithful. Just ask Brewer fans about Sabathia. If
Contreras is back on point he is worth more to somenbosy else than he is to this team. DUMP HIM!

Isn’t there an intramural peewee badminton tournament you should be covering in the desert Jim?

I don't understand all this trade, dump him, kind of talk about Contreras. I was able to watch the game on ch 3 and he looked as good as any pitcher I have seen,
We are not out of this yet, not by a long shot, and there are going to be a lot of "red a sses" on this board when October comes.

Because it would be a very wise move. If you know anything about Contreras' history, this isn't going to last long. Don't get me wrong, He's been fantastic the last two starts and may have a bit of gas left in him, but he is pretty much past his prime. Not to mention, these Sox aren't a World Series contender. You may as well get something in return for a pending free agent. It won't make very good sense to re-sign him.

Three things:
1. If YOU know anything about Contreras' history, his hot streaks usually last full half-seasons.
2. IF Contreras keeps this up, the Sox ARE a World Series contender.
3. I like your work on the Cubs' boards.

Here's the trade proposal of the year:
Some Cub fan wrote:
Ok, I am tired with the Soriano experiment. If he is going to stay with the team you cannot bat him 1st in the order. I'll put 2 proposals out there.

(1) Trade him to Baltimore (if they will take him) with Miles and Fukodome. Ask in return Brian Roberts (.286 with OBP of .359) and Adam Jones (.326 with 11 HR and 38 RBIS - which would put him first on the Cubs in all categories). Your order could eventually be (when A-Ram is back):
Roberts, Theriot, Bradley, Lee, Ramirez, Jones, Haufpauir, and Soto. This gets Haufpauir off the bench and in LF and get Theriot where he belongs in the 2 hole.

I wish we had this guy running the White Sox!

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Aquarius

Be careful now, because you could easily give someone the wrong impression and not even know that you're doing it. This is most likely to happen if you're trying to pussy-foot around them or avoid offending them, because that's when things could get lost in translation. You also have a tendency to sit on the fence now, which could make you seem slightly untrustworthy or shifty if you aren't careful.
