Home opener - is it worth it?

I am coming to LA and am wanting to take my son to his first MLB game. I was looking for tickets to the Angels for either the 5th or later in the week. The tickets I wanted to get Row A section 128 are $99 for any day but the 5th - on the opener they are $175. How "special" is it to go to an opener? I have never been to one. If I want to stay at the $99 price I could move down to section 131 (still row A)- How much better would the seats be in section 128 vs 131?
Thanks much for your thoughts - no matter what we decide I'm sure it will be a great time.
