Pavano gets the start today, with Twins' season on the line

With one more game to go, Ron Gardenhire has chosen to go with experience. Though rookie Brian Duensing was scheduled to pitch today's regular-season finale against Kansas City, Gardenhire will start Carl Pavano on short rest.

Gardenhire agreed.

"He just threw a bad pitch. If he gets the ball inner half of the plate, he might get it by him," the manager said. "He just threw it right down the middle. That's all it did. He's got a good breaking ball, the whole package. Every once in a while, you get in a little rut. You make some bad pitches."

Tell me Gardenhire just didn't put his confidence in Majares. I saw him pitch on Friday. Majares doesn't have confidence in himself! Until he regains it, he shouldn't be allowed to pitch in pivotal situations.

Mijares lost effectiveness because Gardy threw him under the bus in Detroit. Delmon Young was wrong blaming a fellow team mate (publicly) when he was plunked and Gardy was wrong doing the same. They created the mess in Mijares's head.

If Mijares can't handle appropriate criticism ( his players as well Gardenhire) for his pitch selection against the Tigers, he is in the wrong profession. You mess with careers when that BS happens. If I was Delmon I would be mad as well - he was. Get it ...was. It's a new day and they need to all turn the page if they haven't all ready. If Mijares is still bumped , he needs to get over it.

You need to get a clue. You must be new to this but that's the way baseball is played - tit for tat. Usually, evening the score is directed at the OPPOSITION - not your own team mates! If Young doesn't know that, or agree with it, he needs to find a new line of work.
