If Mauer is already within eight plate appearances of being officially on top of the AL batting average it should be no problem to make up that ground shortly after the all-star game. The naysayers were writing off the Twins on Monday, but taking 2-3 in an away series. Twins victory and a Tiger loss with Detroit coming into town gives the team and fans plenty of hope. And Cuddyer showed his incredible value once again!

Enthusiasm is great, but caution is advised. Mauer plays better when he gets less press. It's a superstition, but the feeling won't go away. St. Louis and Kansas City are both slumping badly. St. Louis has had only Pujos doing any damage offensively. Kansas City played poor defense and showed no power. The big series are coming up against Detroit and Chicago, with New York in the middle. This is the moment to gain some ground on Detroit and kick Chicago down the stairs. Let's hope that all the Twins are healthy and ready to play Friday.

The Twins starting pitching is the main reason theyve started winning on the road. Coming out of spring training where nobody seemed to pitch more than three innings, they had little stamina and couldnt last five innings. Now they are going seven and eight innings, taking pressure off our overworked bullpen. The hitting is still too erratic to get us up to the level of the Eastern Division of the American League. Weve got too many guys who are barely hitting their own weight and we still dont hit well in the clutch.

an excellent raod trip...hopefully they can keep things going at home. It seems that every time things may start to turn around they shoot themselves in the foot....anyway, the division is there for the taking so get to it fellas....GO TWINS!!!!

Your last sentence is the key: What is the extent of the injuries to key Twins? Cuddyer's finger still concerns me and we're so used to Morneau playing 99% of the time that it's been taken for granted he will be healthy and play. A strong homestand going into the All-Star break will do wonders for the team and expectations. Organizations tend to make the call as to whether they will be buyers, sellers, or stand pat at that juncture. The Twins will probably do the latter.

The Twins are ready to roll. They are playing much better on the road. And I suspect they will continue to dominate at home. The Central is theirs for the taking. Mauer and Morneau continue to play at an elite level. The starters are solid. R.A. Dickey has been a godsend. And Nathan is lights out.

I'd love to see Mauer keep going with the great BA, it 'might' finally shut up the east coast fans who think they are the only ones with decent players. Although it might take a miracle to have ESPN, etc. actually give credit to a team outside the NY/Boston viewing areas.

So Pioneer Press lays off Miller and now nobody can at the Press can write a real write up of the game. Well done Pioneer Press. Unacceptable.
