So van dyck you left off the second part of the Houston Chronicle report on the reporters blog. Did you just forget or didn't want to upset sox fans?
Here is the info you seem to have overlooked: "Oswalt has a no-trade clause, and if he ever waived it to go play in Chicago it would be with the Cubs and not the White Sox." Guess you and sources don't always lead to factual reporting. Are you angleing for a job with the white sox or something? Tell the truth!

i think until we get a true dominating ace, these talks are always going to surface. and i do believe the sportswriters who say its more about these NL pitchers not wanting to go to the AL or a hitter friendly ballpark.

Peavy and Oswalt are great NL pitchers. But they're not going to be nearly as effective in the AL.

Don't get me wrong... i would love for either one to come to the Sox, but not at the price of gutting our farm system.

Any thoughts...?

Looks like Oswalt just dumped on Kenny in the media, like Kenny did to Peavy by announcing the trade with peavy was a "done deal". Now Kenny gets tossed to the dogs in the media by Oswalt. Anyone mention that Oswalt is Peavy's hunting buddy? Think other free agents with no trade clauses are noticing how Kenny operates and then tries to cover up for himself in the media?

What a foul up, two blown deals and only an embarrassing bunch of excuses from Kenny. The white sox won't be getting any big name trades with players with no trade clauses any time soon. Now both Ozzie and Kenny have bad reps around the leagues. So maybe kenny can find someone who he can trade for that doesn't have a no trade clause and can be forced to play for the whitesox.

Hard to believe a genuine world series champion can be so completely rejected by any prominent player with a no trade clause. Says something about how the sox are seen around the country doesn't it?

I love the way Kenny operates! he's always got his hand in the cookie jar. Granted, some trades work out and others don't, but I really enjoy that Kenny Williams is always out there and not afraid to put his neck on the line.

As far as Peavy and Oswalt go, they are both quality pitchers but at this point I would NOT want to give up Clayton Richards (who has been pitching great), Poreda (who will be a force next year) and two other prospects in our minors.. no way. Mark Buehrle is pitching better than both of them this year for the same cost and remember, Mark isn't afraid of pitching in one of the best hitter's park in the AL. Mark's numbers in PetCo would be incredible, even on the Padres.

Kenny hasn't fouled up either time, and I think not getting Peavy was more of his dislike of the AL and of the Cell than a 'rejection' of the Sox and how the sox are seen around the country as Donald put it. That's just plain silly.

Barry Axerod (Peavy's agent) had no idea the White Sox were going to try to trade for him, and he had always stated no AL team. I applaud Kenny for even trying against those odds and securing an agreement from the Padres, however I like how the Sox have turned things around and would be happy to keep our prospects for now.

Kenny- we are in no hurry to make deals right now. I like the make-up of the team going forward. But i like how you are always in the mix.

Trading is a two way street but some of you air-heads think that the Astros would give away Oswalt without getting some value in return. Think about it.
Would the Astros take Buehrle & Floyd, & Richard, & Danks +$1 million?

Jay, considering pitching is at a premium, there isn't a player in the entire MLB worth those 4 pitchers! I wouldn't take Oswalt or peavy for two of them.

To answer your question, yes- the Astros would jump all over that 'offer.'

What player wouldn't want to play for the cubs as opposed to the Sox? The NL based cubs play in a field where the baseball ignorant seem to call home. Cub fans give everyone a pass ala Sammy Sosa. The team itself are attention freaks that thrive on the spotlight. Not to mention the Trib. lately has passed out money like it never existed.

Now on the South Side, the pressure would be on to perform. Underperform and the fans let you know it. Plus the far superior AL makes the NL look like the next step up from AAA. You would really have to raise your own bar to play there.

The Sox are not the media darlings, so let the prima donna's play on the North Side. They deserve eachother

I must have missed the part where Kenny said he was or wasn't interested in Oswalt. All he said is that he hasn't discussed trading for him.

What A Load Of S***! No One "Forced" Burhle, Dye, Kenerko, Przynski, And Others To Sign With The Sox When They Could have Gone Elsewhere. Two NL Pitchers Don't Want To Pitch In The AL. PERIOD! Don't Try To Find Some Sinister Meaning That Isn't There.
But Lets Assume That All You Say Is True. What Does It Say About Your Beloved Cubbies That The Sox Won-Lost Record Under Williams Blows The Cubs Out Of The Water! Not To Mention Winning An AL Pennant AND A World Series! Amazing What He Acomplished When "Nobody" Wants To Play For Him. One Last Question. Whats Jim Hendrys Excuse?

Hey Paul from Geneva, why do you avoid acknowledging the obvious, that these pitchers don't want to play for the WHITE SOX, it has nothing to do with the AL. There is a huge difference there, that you Sox apologists don't want to admit to.

"sometimes ... the best deals are the ones you don't make."

Too bad Williams didn't know that after the Sox won the World Series. Trading Aaron Rowand insured that the Sox would not repeat. Letting Joe Crede go is probably another bad move, but only time will tell.

Williams is too impatient and needs to learn to just sit still most of the time. While a good GM is always looking to improve the team, the baseball season is an extremely long one and it's extremely foolish to make trades based on performances during just part of a season. Ditto that for even a season or two where a player has performed well in the past but needs some time to get over a serious injury (see Ordonez & Crede).

Oswalt's decent but overrated, he's getting older, and his ERA has gone up each of the last five years. Not worth overpaying for. But he'll always bring back good memories, as the collapse by this supposed "ace" in Game 3 was the turning point in the Sox''05 Series win.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Cancer

Take it easy today, or the most insignificant things will get you down in no time. A difficult letter in the post, or a tricky conversation with a loved one, will sink your spirits down to your ankles. Ugh. Life is not as tough as it seems right now, so keep reminding yourself that we can choose to feel better. A bar of delicious chocolate, or a tasty savoury snack might help a little, too...
