Of these free agents, the Twins should sign Cabrera, Pavano and Chone Figgins. If they do this, they will be in a position to beat the Yankees next year.

Figgins would be a great asset to the Twins, but I wouldn't break the bank for him.

We sure don't want any former Tigers (choke) or Cubs (losers).

Re-sign crede and see if he can stay healthy, either sign harden (yes from the cubs) to an incentive laden deal or re-sign pavano to the same type of deal (or sign both), then trade Perkins cause everybody is sick of him (especially the twins brass) for jj hardy. and then sign orlando hudson for second base (as long as he isnt offered abitration)

How about keeping crede but playing him almost always at DH....keeping his bat in the line up but limiting the beating on his body from the field.

i feel that the twins weakness was exposed pretty good against the yankees. to me they need a power hitting 3rd baseman, a bona fide ace at pitching, and for carlos gomez to make the next level of adjustment at the major league level,he has all the potential talent, but his hitting is mediocre at best, the twins lineup does not strike fear in many teams, mauer is the hitter you can pitch around and morneau swings big way too much, reminds me alot of kent hrbek, same way with delmon young he can be had either with a pitch up or a slider in the dirt, he needs to have more discipline at the plate, kubel too, swings big alot of times and can be had the same way as young, as a whole the team could contend in the weak central but will never get out of the first round of the playoffs with out getting more pitching and more power at the plate.

Why aren't Ruben Sierra, Livan Hernandez, Tony Bautista, Adam Everett and Sidney Ponson on this list?

I think they're available too and given the Twins' history, there's a better chance the Twins sign one of those guys.

trade perkins for hardy, sign harden (not lackey), maybe trade for uggla and put him at third or second doesnt matter and then sign either orlando hudson or creede. then punto can go back to being a utility fielder or second baseman.
