Gardenhire is right about the defense. It's starting too look as if a lot of people were right about keeping Hardy aboard. It's obviously time to get rid of Casilla, but do the Twins have anyone who can play good defense to bring up from the minors? The Twins can't afford another non-entity, like Butera, at the plate. Maybe the Twins should have kept Punto and Hardy around after all. If Toby Gardenhire gets called up to the majors...well, there has to be a better answer.

As for Pavano, one gets the impression that the guy is plain out of gas. He doesn't have the greatest stuff, and he doesn't have a broad assortment. If he doesn't get ahead in the count, it's very tough for him to get an out when he has to throw his fastball for strikes.
