Historical Yankee Stadium to be Destroyed

Home to the first professional baseball game played under lights. The stadium where Mickey Mantle started his professional career, with the Independence Yankees. Other great baseball players that played for Independence were Bill Verdon, Gabe (John) Gabler, Don Taussig, Bob Wiesler, Steve Kraly, Lou Skizas, and Glenn Wright. There were over thirty players that played for Independence that went on to the majors. Anyway, the city is going to destroy the historic stadium. They see no value in keeping it. Say good bye to to a big part of baseball history.
