The good Samaritans who located and rescued the man were the crew of the trimaran S/V MsNitro sailing out of North Point Marina at Winthrop Harbor IL. While monitoring VHF 16 they became aware of the UMIB in their close proximity. The crew establish a lookout and eventually spotted a red object low in the water approximately 100 yards off their beam. MsNitro immediately diverted course and eventually identified a person in the water wearing a red life jacket. MsNitro quickly relayed this information to the Coast Guard. The sailboat's crew then proceeded to followed their practiced MOB skills to retrieve and rescue the man from the water. It was quickly established that the man's wife was still in the the water and unaccounted for. MsNitro relayed this information to the Coast Guard SAR, who located and rescued the man's wife approximately 200 years from where he was rescued.
