I signed up with Transforming America in January of 2006 when they were called JL Kirk Associates. They took my $3500 and I still never got my foot in the door anywhere. I wasted many hours meeting with them. I'm having better luck without them!

I've been urged to take them to small claims court.

You can find more negative blogs on the net regarding these thieves. Keep on them NC5!

JL Kirk was the company's previous name...They told me the 'J.L.' stood for Jesus Christ is Lord.
One of the two brothers that ran the company before Wosniak, "Kirk " ..... was extemely dishonest...ask former employees. I know there can always be some ' ax grinding' going on from former employees of a company....but the pattern was there. I was contacted by Tenn.'s Atty. Gen'l's office, gave a deposition and was never contacted again. I'm glad News 5 is making the ' effort ', so hopefully there will be fewer clients duped. When I confronted Mr. Kirk, I was ridiculed and after some further correspondence, was threatened with legal action. Thanks again for your efforts.

I too was very close to pay this company close to $4K; they did promise they would find me a top executive job. I finally decided to not proceed with the deal; the VP of this company will tell you anything to get your money. They need to face the consequences of their acts.
Shame on you Transition America

First I want to say I am sorry that people are being scammed by this so called company. I do hope each person that was robbed will get their money back.
I would say with the video evidence I feel that taking their scamming selves to court, Take the company the "Gary Sebold's" of the company to court for the employees are just as responsible.
It is wrong to do people the way they did and I hope with everything thats in me that each one gets their money back.

I have been working with Transforming America for about 10 weeks. No one has promised me a job. What the people of this firm have promised me is 1) to help me discover what kind of career field would fit me best, 2) to help me learn how to get interviews with companies I would like to work for, 3) to help me learn how to conduct interviews well. Whether I do any or all of these things and whether I get a position is totally up to me. Every insight of theirs that I have acted upon has been successfull in moving me closer to my next position.

If I simply wanted a job, I could have gone to a placement company. But I want a career instead. And that takes a lot of work. People who are not willing to put in the work, will not get positions. Period. Transforming America has a very active approach to conducting a career search. This approach will definitely not suit someone who wants a job to fall in their lap. Sitting back and waiting for someone else to solve your problems almost always results in failure.

I believe in one person there. Rich Leipzig...the person on the voicemail in tonight's story. He helped me to assess my skills, determine my strengths, abilities, and personality type. Helped me to better understand other personality types for interviewing, and as a result, I am gainfully employed by a top company and very happy.

His comment to me was that Transforming America worked with their clients until they find a job. He never mentioned TA would find a job for them.

Now, rewind about three years when I talked with someone at JL Kirk. My experience then was more in line with what was shown on TV. I do believe the companies are "the same" with just a different name and a different owner. Thankfully I didn't sign up back then.

Do not go to BBB- they won't do anything.
Please file with State Consumer Affairs or better yet, Consumer Affairs and with State Attorney General's office.

I am VP of Tennessee Recruiters Association and have been in recruiting for over 22 years. This kind of opportunistic behavior has been around for a long time. Before I got into recruiting Bernard Haldane Associates tried to be me (a 23 year old college dropout at the time) to take out a $2400 loan to expose me to the 'hidden job market'. I'd strongly advise anyone to look VERY closely at any company charging individuals to find jobs. It should work the other way around with companies paying to find employees with the only reasonable alternative being outsourcing which is also paid for by the employers. And even then the actual individuals do not pay. If you are the business equivalent of Albert Pujols or ARod you might need an agent but if you are a person looking for a job there is almost NO circumstance where you should pay anyone anything. I am always sorry to see this come up because it's ugly and it sometimes gets confused with what we do.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Just look at companies like Altig aka Liberty National aka American Income Life aka about a hundred other names.

If they want you to pay them to start your "career" or they refuse to pay for your training or if they use phrases like "unlimited income potential" then chances are they're not entirely trustworthy.

I am the person who was on Channel 5 and worked with Jennifer on exposing Ed Wozniak and Transgression America. I find David F's post facinating. The verbiage he uses is almost identical to verbiage that Ed used in an email to me.
By your posting David, it seems to me that you have never held an executive position so their "expertise" is perfect for you. I hope you get your money's worth from your Myers Briggs test, your accomplishments exercise and all of the other rudimentary, entry level tasks they ask of you. Glad you think it's money well spent.
After 15 years as a senior manager in a specific industry, it was time to find a new career. I didn't have connections or a network here in the Nashville area. I asked TA specifically if they had a network that would be available to me and if they marketed the individual to that network. I was assured by VP's Rick Hirsch and Rich Leipzig not only did they have people on staff who would market me to the VP's and Presidents of companies but that they also had the "ins" with the hiring managers at all the big companies. They also promised that through their "exclusive" job posting site, I would receive job leads before they were ever made public. They also promised that they would call and get me interviews with these companies.
They lied. Period.
So David, I was willing to put in the work but they lied. There was no work to be done with these cons. I decided not to sit back and wait for someone to solve my problems so I took matters in to my own hands. Four and 1/2 months later I don't consider it a failure at all... there is more to come that I am working on.
Connect the dots and you will see that they are Bernard Haldane, JL Kirk resurrected under the name Transforming America. It's just a matter of time until they change their name. I am working on some things that will make it nearly impossible for Wozniak and the Leipzigs to do that. By the way David...give my regards to your Uncle Ed.

Anyone writing a positive comment about whichever name you want to use for this/these companies is probably one of them!!!!
Bless you, Lyle, for having the courage to go to Channel 5.

I am with this company now. I have been for five or six weeks. It's like you see in the news report. Gary makes huge promises and makes it sound like you'll get your money back in no time. He even told me to borrow the money from a family member by putting it on their credit card!

Anyway, they have worked with me on putting together a resume and on understanding both myself and people around me. But my career coach herself said that no one would hire me in the field that I wanted, which was IT.

So right now it's looking like I made a major financial mistake in paying them upfront.

This is not the only company that operates this way. I got taken by one about 10 years ago. They were located downtown although I don't have the name at hand.

I have been scammed by this organization. They used me for my contacts in the community. I was made promises to land that dream job that only they knew about. I was very reluctant, so they had me bring my husband in to discuss. They pursuaded my husband, so I figure that it must be legit since he's not pursuaded easily. All I got from the deal was an updated resume, which never even got me in the door, and 8 business cards. For those of you who are thinking about this company, save your $$. This organization preys on folks, especially when they are in transition or have just lost their job, due to whatever reason. Don't fall for it. Brentwood Methodist has a group that meets every Monday evening. If you need any kind of support or networking contacts, this is the place to go. The volunteers there will help you with anything you need, even if it's a shoulder to cry on. God Bless!
