You probably knew her best as a Milwaukee news anchor. Melodie Wilson worked in TV, for WTMJ, and later for WITI- FOX 6. Recently Wilson lost her long battle with cancer, but her breast cancer diagnosis turned the respected TV anchor into an advocate for others battling the disease.

I watched Melodie on chanel 4, and was so upset by them saying she was to old to anchor. I always thought she looked like a young woman, and was surprised to find out her real age at that time. When she was hired at Fox 6, I watched every night, and enjoyed her news casts greatly. When I first heard that she had Breast Cancer, I cried, and quietly to myself, prayed for a full recovery for her and her lovely family. It was not to be, but she had the time to LIVE and EDUCATE about this horrible disease,and so of course she did. What a tough act to follow. A great human being once again leaving this earth to soon. Bless you Melodie, and my prayers go out to your family.

I had the honor of working with Melodie at Fox 6 for only 2 years, but in that short time, I learned so much about being a good journalist. She was a mentor who taught me to be a better fact-checker, story-teller and all-around better professional. My condolences to her wonderful family and all the people she touched with her work not only on TV, but also through ABCD. She will be missed, but her legacy will help so many. That is a true tribute to the wonderful human being we were so lucky to know.

A number of years ago there was a poll going around about sho was your favorite anchor person. I always admired Melodie Wilson - and so I listed her. A short time later I received a card from Melodie thanking me for naming her. I was so touched that she would send it - and it made me like her even more.

She was truly class personified - on the air and in her battle with cancer. We all have lost a truly wonderful person. She will be deeply missed - but always remembered.
