THE ERIN SALMON STORY IS A 2012-2014 DRAMA CENTERED ON ERIN MAE SALMON, who was a 23-year-old hospitality worker in Milwaukee Wis. in September 2012 when she drove impaired and crashed into josh albert, a Milwaukee police officer. salmon pleaded guilty to charges and was eventually sentenced to 18 months in prison. the story follows erin salmon's attempts to cope with her situation of being removed from her comfortable life and friends and family to the rigors of prison life. Backstory: In September 2012 erin m. salmon is a 23 year old hospitality worker and recent college graduate. one night after work erin salmon and her boyfriend go to a bar a drink and smoke marajiuana . after leaving the bar an intoxicated erin salmon drives up an interstate off ramp and travels the wrong way, eventually hitting off-duty Milwaukee police officer josh albert. albert is nearly killed and salmon suffers serious injuries. erin salmon ultimately pleads guilty to felony charges, becoming a convicted felon and is subsequently sentenced to 18 months in prison. the first night erin struggles to deal with her new reality of be taken away from her comfortable life to the rigors of prison. most of her fellow inmates are hardened criminals while erin stands out as a college-educated ''good girl;; from a ''good family.'' erin eventually gets to know the other inmates, telling them she graduated college, had several jobs and wasn't ever expected to be sent to prison. most of the other inmates never finished high school and came from poor backgrounds. on st. patty's day 2013 erin remarks that her friends are out partying while she is in prison. one of the inmates reminds erin that she is a criminal now and her friends have moved on. erin finally begins to accept her fate as she approached a year in prison.
