You don't fly this plane regular...The plane flys backwards..(the tail is in the front),That means the controls are bass ackwards...(it's a miracle it ever got off the ground)...

There are some people in California recreating an authentic replica. It crashed also. It is in repair now.

One of the safest designs is a "Canard". Excuse my spelling but it has the tail in front and virtually spin proof.

They got off the ground because they hadn't developed that point of reference yet....and that being said technically today we're flying backwards......

Slight fix, the elevator (pitch control) is in the front canard and it's designed to stall before the main wing does, thereby reducing the tendancy of stalling the aircraft, which must be done in order to spin it.

A canard is a horizontal stabilizer that is mounted in front of the main wing rather than behind it. The wright's plane actually was the first to use this. Check it out in Wikipedia.

I read the story and first time, thought it said 'PASTIES on the prairie.' I was all set to head over there, then I read it again.

I saw this contraption fly at W-P 4-5 years back, at the 100 year anniversary of flight (the W-P annual airshow).

I think they are carrying the 'historically accurate' thing a tad too far.

Since the video shows it clearly got off the ground before crashing, I disagree with your assertion.

Flying is just a fad...

It'll never catch on.

Dangerous, too.
