Via our military blog: In light of it being Top Gun Day I think it would be proper to take a look back to see how the true star of the movie, the F-14 Tomcat, could have lived on in various forms far past its 2006 retirement.

From the proud son of a Grumman Airframe engineer: though you can't change the past the article should be about why Dick Cheney destroyed Grumman Aerospace completely by not allowing any more Grumman Aircraft on any Govt owned product, allowing Northrop to purchase Grumman in a extremely Hostile Take Over, liquidating Grumman competely and firing all but 3% of its employees. Add insult to injury Northrop/Grumman now uses both The Tom and the Hawk to boast about their product when it was Grumman not Northrop who built those 2 aircraft.
