Army swaps sit-ups for combat run in new PT tests
The Army plans to toughen its fitness tests for the first time in 30 years to make sure all soldiers have the strength, endurance and mobility for battle, adding exercises like running an obstacle course in full combat gear and dragging a body's weight.

Excellent. It's about damn time the military went to a more accurate measure of fitness with the focus on COMBAT fitness. While more people may fail the combat fitness test, wouldn't it be better to know that BEFORE they deploy instead of finding out during a firefight?
The only downside is the pathetic physical shape of the average civilian means boot camp will have to be extended to 6 months or longer just to get them in shape!
