I hope the Army will also be compassionate when it comes to Sgt. John M. Russell's court martial since his actions were due to his ptsd or combat stress and not like the execution of the Iraqi captives nor did he rape and kill an Iraqi teenager and her family. As an Army brat and former soldier I am sorry about the deaths caused by him but I hope and pray that the Army can be objective and fair when it comes to his trial and the loss of those American soldiers. It is easier to sympathize with American soldiers killing Iraqis than one who snapped and committed fratricide. As Americans we should have a higher standard of compassion and justice, if not, why should we demand it of other nations? We should lead by example.
