"I shuffled papers for 20 years. I gets me a half-pay pension for 50 years plus medical benefits and cost of living raises. People who work for a living are morons! Sweet!"

Forty Million for a 44-bed hospital. Staggering.

Make that 404 million for the 44 bed hospital. At least it`s under 10 million bucks per bed!Another victory for government contractors.

Government contractors with the military chomp up the bulk of the federal budget. That's the system, folks.

In the meantime, the construction will bring in jobs and business to the area. I have a friend who's an engineer with a company who has a piece of this. He comes here from time to time to do his thing and he stays in the best hotels and eats in nice restaurants. There's plenty more like him, and this stuff dominoes. Quit whining. a private hospital built to those specifications would cost no less.

Ease up on government contractors, they are a huge part of the quintessential military-industrial complex Republican President Ike warned us about. Dwight and Bob Dole and Bush, Sr. are the last of a dying breed of respectable Republicans who served our country bravely in wartime. They talked the talk, and walked the walk. I respect them as a Democrat.

I agree with dick cheney and the kangaroo. And let's keep in mind the hospital will be used by wounded veterans.

By the time all of our soldiers have returned to Ft. Riley, the Army will be greatly reduced in size. Conservatively, Ft Riley could lose a Brigade. That would be a 20% reduction in economic impact. It is sure to happen, and soon.

You got that right -- hasn't been that long ago when the Big Red One left -- remember that?

Army Times said the Army will downsize by 160,000 troops. There`s no way that won`t affect Ft. Riley`s troop strength. JC`s already gloomy future just got gloomier. Only industry and well-paying jobs could save JC. But you need a strong and willing work force for that, which generally means immigrants, legal or illegal. JC is in a no-win situation.

This hospital almost killed me and my son when I had him there a year ago. Recently went to the Emergency Room and they drugged me up and sent me home, didnt bother to find out what the real issue is. An entirely new staff needs to come with the new hospital. My family has never had a good experience there.

In Med school and Law school, like any other schools that graduate students, there is going to be a bottom 10% of each class. Many graduates in this category end up becoming military doctors and JAG officers, due to limited opportunities in the private sector. There are exceptions, but that is generally the rule.
