The only part of the article I wish to comment on is this.....
"The revised lawsuit criticizes the Army's 2008 manual on suicide prevention, quoting it as promoting "religiosity" as a necessary part of prevention and describing "connectivity to the divine" as "fundamental.""

My comment is: DUH! Having had a friend commit suicide, I'd use ANY and ALL means at my disposal to dissuade someone from killing themselves.

I have two words for this soldier:

TOO BAD!

He advocates a position that would go past seperation of church & state to seperating church members from society.

I am a Christain (Catholic) and I am here to stay & I will be heard. All followers of the Christ are obligated to live their faith & bring others to the faith as well. We will not be quiet.

As much as I can say I don't care about the issue Spec. Chalker does have a relevant point. I won't comment on his charges but Born Again Christians are rampant throughout the US Militaries upper ranks. Part of it has to due with the high percentage of religious American Southerners in the ranks of the officer corps and part of it has to do with an Old Boy network that sees non Christians as anti-American. This includes the administration of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs whose Administrator and cohorts are born again Christians and a US General in Special Forces, who was censored for calling muslims acceptable casualties. It's a culture where they don't trust those unlike them but considering the world we live in I'm glad these men are on the American side. You see if we have to deal with Islamic extremists it behooves us to have just as extremist group on our side. Moderates have never won anything worthwhile but extremists change the world and at least we have some religious nutcases on our side as a counterweight to Islamic religious extremists. Jus Sayin it's a reality we subconsciously want whether we want to admit or not

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!

Nobody expects you to be quiet. What many of us would like would be for you to stay the he11 out of trying to run the government, telling other people how to live, insisting that Christianity holds the patent on human morality, and claiming that anybody who wants to keep you from meddling in the lives of everyone is trying to shut you up.

There's a church on every street corner, many on prime real estate. These churches pay zero taxes while local schools hold bake sales to raise money for textbooks. Yet, a loud lot of Christians would just LOVE to have mandatory prayer in school, over the PA system every morning.

Take it from a very moral atheist, you guys are stepping over the line all over the place. Not all, but some.
