long time ago soldier wrote: i am trying to track down a soldier who i trained with at fort polk in 1970 I'm sorry I can't help you, but perhaps you could help me. I'm looking for anyone who remembers Leland (Mort) Hollenbeck. He was at Fort Polk in November and probably December, 1970. Prior to that, he had Basic at Fort Knox, KY. Many thanks for your kind help.

I was at Fort Polk DEC70-MAY71. A-2-1 Second to none. jrobertallen@bellsouth.net My Drill Sergeant was a Hawaiian guy named AKAKA. On his footlocker, he had painted a hand of cards: Ace, King, Ace, King, Ace. Ha ha!

I was at Fort Polk for Basic in Oct - Dec 1970. I was in B-2-2. Played Sax in the Band at the Talent contest at the end of basic. Have a picture of a band practice. Suprised everyone when I was given orders to Fort Monmoth for AIT in electronics. Everyone else was AIT at Fort Polk.
