How do you honor the military in this day and age? How do you honor a soldier who is being downsized, cannot get a job, cannot get benefits or treatment and has to wait in a hospital for treatment in hopes that he will get that treatment? How do you honor a nation in turmoil?
I know there are many men and women who wear the uniform proudly. I commend these men and women. I know I wore a uniform once but my time was different than today. I seriously feel the men and women of today should be recognized for just surviving in these current hard times BUT the pride that once was has faded due to political pressure, a lame congress and a nation in fear of what will happen next. Soldiers should be prepared to fight again but this time, it may be on their own homeland for their rights as military veterans in need of survival for the benefits they are due. A parade on Memorial day is not necessarily for the living. The living veteran today has more stress in adjusting to the reality of what has happened to this country.
Do you seriously know anyone that would trade places with a soldier today?
