Not only will the training for crews be hampered, the short notice contingency response time will suffer as well. Due to Cannon's elevation and location, AC-130s will no longer be able to take off with a full combat crew, ammo load, and sufficient fuel to deploy as quickly as they can from Hurlburt. Instead, they will have to depart with a minimum fuel load to be able to get off the ground, or go without ammo and make adjustments for getting ammo enroute (most likely back to Hurlburt).

Unfortunately, it appears politics have once again taken a priority here; gunships add to Cannon's AFSOC mission, and that helps the local economy, but at a cost to mission readiness and safety.
