Can the Philippines Stand up to China?

There are 10 comments on the www.philnews.com story from Apr 14, 2012, titled Can the Philippines Stand up to China?. In it, www.philnews.com reports that:

The current standoff on Scarborough Shoal between the Philippines and China only serves to highlight this country’s marked inadequacy in patrolling and defending its borders. The fact that Scarborough (Panatag to Filipinos) Shoal is on the country’s continental shelf just 124 nautical miles from Zambales—well within its 200-mile exclusive economic zone—has not stopped the Chinese from claiming it as their own. As far as they are concerned Scarborough Shoal, most of the Spratlys to the south, the Parcel Islands to the west, and a large swath of the South China Sea all belong to China.

Just because a country accepts military help or collaborate with other nations to fight off an enemy doesn’t mean it’s not national defense. Part of Japan’s national defense are the U.S. armed forces in their country under a mutual agreement, and the U.S., other than that treaty with Japan has entered into countless military agreements worldwide as part of its national defense. Have you heard about the military alliance called NATO? Do you know how WWI and WWII were fought? Idiot!
I served in the U.S Navy, I know more about the military than you could ever comprehend. The U.S presense in Japan was part of their surrender agreement at the end of WWII.

Now go away you mindless flea !

You must have personal issues with Filipinos since you keep on ranting on how bad the Philippines is and Filipinos are primitive, backward etc. Did a Filipina woman break your heart?
You say that the Philippines is loaded with primitive people. The same can be said about a large number of African-Americans who are bunch of babymamas, "ghetto", welfare dependents and so on. Many Americans of non-African slave descent believe that things would be much better off without African-Americans. There would be less ghettos, less crime and people would feel more safe on the streets at night.
The good thing about all of this is, this enabled other ethnicities to assimilate into Anglo-American middle class. The Irish, Germans, Poles, Jews, Japanese, Chinese were able to assimilate a lot faster due to African-Americans. They enabled these other ethnicities to move out of their cultural enclaves and mix into White Suburbia. And now, many Latinos are following the same path.
Filipinos are lost because of their country's state and history. If only the education system broke its links with the Catholic Church, then they can improve on their sub par contents and way on implementing things. You can blame the Spaniards for their part in corrupting things here, but also Filipinos must learn to think for themselves and with the aid of proper education, this will help.
I am not being a racist, I am just mentioning the facts here.
Rodney let me ask what did I say that wasn't true during any of my socalled rants.

As for substandard black americans, yes there are far too many. I dislike and speakout relative sorry black people, just as I do relative to others. I also know and acknowledge there are far to many uneducated, unsophisticated, welfare guzzling poor white trash in america, specifically rual areas and the south. Yes the same is said relative to the fact, the country/world would and will be a much better place when they are all dead (as in extinct).

You made your critical comments the repeated what I've been saying.

You appear to be the typical self righteous poor white guy.

I almost forgot to mention, black american generally do not assimilate. We make our own way. Assimilation opportunities equal rights were banned for blacks and other people of color. While white immigrants/refugees did not have those barriers.

Conversely blacks took the lead and fought for equality and subsequently became the most identifiable ethnic group in this nation. Currently there are more black CEO's and millionaires in the U.S than any other minority group. Black american culture and trends are worldwide, others have assimilated to black american culture,(not bad for 12%). White culture is generally boring and uninteresting.

I think the Philippines, generally, for centuries , has a friendly history with migrants. I'm not aware that the natives back in the 1200s had a problem with the Chinese communities throughout the islands? Some of the Chinese, Koreans, Japanese who converted to roman catholicism were persecuted so they had to migrate to Macau or the Philippines. Today the Chinese are the wealthiest in the Philippines. There's a Korean Community in the Philippines. The tisoys, tsinoys, koreanoys, and Japinoys are the new tribes of the Philippines. The Philippines is becoming like Malaysia. A melting pot.

For my opinion we cannot stand to China because we do not have military powers because our country had no money to supply our military so in seconds "tapos tayo sa China pag nag-kagulo"... That's all thank you...

if the pilipinos are smarter, then yes they can stand up against china but we all know, the chinese are smarter and hard worker than pilipinos so no, the Philippines will not be able to stand up against China. you see, war is like a game of chess. its all about strategy and tactics. If you look at the history of conflicts and war in the Philippines, it was a stalemate against Spain, they lost against the US cavalry in 1898, they lost against Japan even with the presence of US forces in the country. now its a stalement with the rebel forces in 2 fronts. How much more with China? lol.
