Whoever wrote the headline for this article goofed. The navy base is the interesting set of buildings overlooking Centerville Beach. The article talks about a housing project owned by the Navy, not the same thing.

Who has control of the Centerville Navy property? What are the plans for the facility? Will it continue to rot or will someone come up with something useful to do with it?

I would also like to know what the plans are for the Navy Base. It is an awesome property in a beautiful location. I imagine the upkeep, maintanance, and repairs on that property are huge but it is a shame if it just rots away.

Coolest place ever. That military base is host to some great urban exploring. If your not going to bring in a 12 pack, highly suggest a good flashlight, and people not afraid of the dark. I would love to go back to beautiful Ferndale and Centerville Beach and check out again!

Haven't been down Fortuna/Ferndale/Centerville Beach, in a long while and haven't seen this until now, so am undoubtedly not in the know as to the Navy Base above Centerville Beach and what ever transpired. I surely hope it wasn't torn down or rotted out. I was from Fortuna and met my husband who was stationed there and so did my younger sister met her future husband there. I loved watching the two guys bowl down in Fortuna. Anyway, one thing we do know is my husband and a friend drove up along there and did see where the side of the road and hill broke loose and fell into the ocean. I did read something on the Vet. Page from Terry Asher and both my husband and I knew him. I'll try to get back on here and hopefully someone will have read this and posted a reply. Thanks
