A Tale of Two Diagnoses: Records Show How Army Doctors Downgrade PTSD

Aug 10, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Seattle Weekly

How does one doctor diagnose an Iraq war veteran with PTSD while another says the same soldier has a less severe condition called adjustment disorder? Medical records shared by one of the characters in our feature story this week offer some insight into the workings the controversial forensic psychiatry team at Madigan Army Medical Center.

I had no idea. I do see your point and understand your ire. Shame we were duped into that phrase, I really thought it meant something but again we are dealing with the govt. Thanks for the education.
And the proper Russian response is, "I serve mother Russia."

Unfortunately, reading about soldiers suicides do not help any.
Why is this happening? How could this have been missed when this patient was flagged a POTENTIAL RISK, with a history of suicide attempts?

Minneapolis VA faulted after Vietnam vet's suicide
Published On: Aug 28 2012 09:21:45 AM CDT Updated On: Aug 28 2012

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)-

A report says the Minneapolis Veterans Medical Center was "deficient" in its handling of a suicidal Vietnam War veteran who later killed himself.

The report notes that the one-time Marine had survived a recent suicide attempt. The report alleges the hospital didn't follow up after mental-health staff warned that he might try to kill himself again.

The report was from the Veterans Administration Inspector General's Office, which investigates wrongdoing. It faults the VA's suicide-prevention coordinator for not consulting with the man's treatment team, and the hospital for failing to follow up with him.

VA spokesman Ralph Heussner tells the Minneapolis Star Tribune every veteran's suicide is a tragedy. He says the hospital plans to use the information from the report to improve its system of flagging potential risks.

I realize the staff are limited on what they can and cannot do for the veteran but these suicides are still happening and the VA is faulting the suicide prevention coordinator for failing to follow up! How do you improve on something that falls through the cracks? Key word here...POTENTIAL RISKS!!!! This VA has got to take more responsibility for what they do. I realize this soldier has a suicide history and you cannot prevent someone who is intent on suicide 24/7 unless you lock them up and even then, it still happens but this patient should have been monitored more carefully. This is supposed to be a 'hot button' for the VA but it still happened and this seriously a shame!

Suicide by mind drugs. Military personal discharged in hard (Republican caused) financial times get VA disability at the cost of their sanity. Not hard to understand PTSD or the one hundred and one other made to order mental disorders.

You evidently do not know anything about PTSD! It has NOTHING to do with drugs!

I suppose the mental health industry is treating PTSD with ice cream and candy and getting kick backs from the sugar industry.

No chance that the Wall Street "bell ringing" Republican (ALEC) pharmacutical industry has a few rewards for the "made to order" PTSD and the hundred and one other diagnoses leading to mind drug prescriptions paid for by the government that are available to the returning GI's.

Why is this happening? It's called the American Holocaust (population control). All veterans or anyone that is a liability is being disenfranchised. No American pie instead you get lie, delay (fraud),deny until you and yours die. Congress and SCOTUS national goal - death fix it / deficit.

Mad Man:__ In the "old days" PTSD symptoms were handled in a simple and direct command, "Shut the fxxk up, and just do your job!" As years passed and career soldiers "continued" to experience extreme PTSD issues, the solution was "simple" ... court martial for malingering.
Been there done that!
If we are fighting "two" wars now...we must have been fighting a "dozen" wars during WWII. How about keeping politics and "political correctness" out of the discussion? Presently we are fighting "one war" on two fronts [not counting several wars on covert fronts].
Today's soldiers grew up on "soft" political correctness, and if someone sees someone else get a "boo-boo" on their elbow, they debrief with a therapist.
My generation grew up on "Howdy Doody" "Gene Autry" "Roy Rogers" and black & white WWII "B" movies with "no blood" "no missing body parts" and "came to reality" in Vietnam where losing several hundred soldiers a week was "routine" and the general order was, "Shut the fxxk up and just do your job!"
PTSD is over-rated. I ought to know, because it took many years for me to get help...and many more years of being warned by the Veterans Administration to keep my mouth shut, or I would be placed on a locked ward [in the old days there were many secrets to hide, and PTSD be damned if it got in the way of secrets].
In the end major PTSD symptoms pass...and it is because "soldiers" [once a soldier, always a soldier] pulls their soldier/civilian selves up by their own boot straps, and makes peace with themselves for being a survivor.
Soldiers must rely on their own ability to heal themselves. Learn all they can on what PTSD is, and apply it to their individual lives. Avoid the traps set by politically correct liberal therapist, and apply knowledge to self-healing.
PTSD is not unique to this generation. Symptoms were first recorded in ancient Roman times, and continue into the present. We are not unique! We are a "Brotherhood" of thousands of years of combat survivors!" Get over it!

Relatives, parents and love ones should go into a protective mode for the GI's health and welfare.

1st step is to make sure the GI is not drugged by the mental health industry especially going into combat. Other GI's can help protect each other using the buddy system and get rid of the mental health people and the mind drugs they push for creating mental illness and addiction for their long term profits in their profession.

Is the general getting a kick back or payoff from the Mental Health / pharmaceutical industry and disregarding the health and welfare of the troops? Keep tabs.

Keeping fellow veterans INFORMED about what the drug do is the first thing to educate veterans with. Ask yourself, what can these drugs do for me? What will they do for me? They (the drugs) don't help me to forget, they don't take away the pain do they and if so, how?
Veterans NEED to understand PTSD. They need to have support to feel like a human being once again. It is hard to move forward when you can't for get. Some do, some don't. Drugs are not the answer here/
Veterans need to talk to one another to learn how to move forward and understand what they can do with what is left of their lives.
DEPRESSION KILLS and so do the drugs that cloud your mind. Understand the depression and the feelings of anxiety and related ADJUSTMENT DISORDER.
I know I experienced the adjustment when I got out and felt left out from my friends who did not understand what it is like taking orders when you are under contract. I left my friends behind in search of people that did understand. I developed new friends and a new life but it was a rough road. Feeling lost in a civilian world, no job, a feeling of helplessness and not understanding why. It takes a lot to move forward and leave the past behind but it can be done, without the drugs.
Understand that!

Recognize the American Holocaust (population control - death fix it). What will the drugs do for you. The drugs will start the machine again. Congress will receive money from the drug companies (pass practice). YHVH solution in the American Holocaust is Mongoose Protocol.

Based on what criteria is adjustment disorder even considered a diagnoses as the disorder was designed by the Mental Health Industry and presented at the APA convention by the hand raising of those who stand to gain financially in the mental health profession. I assume this acceptance of personality disorder was excepted by those with alternative motive and suffer from a power and control and a rectal sucking disorder in he mental health industry.

If they need the drugs to go on with their normal lives then let them. I need my f'n hydrocodone to function or else I'm going to be in bed feeling sorry for myself. Meds are there to help sick people to lead a normal life. If others abuse them oh well but don't take it from the people who really need them. That is cruelty!!!

The dirty deal of the Amino Acid Tryptophan

The MKULTRA project was a CIA initiative to control the thought and actions of people and was tested on unsuspecting American and Canadians during the 1950-1970. It is still happening today using psychotropic, anti-depressant, anti-psychotic and Statin drugs and involves children.

Bogus diagnoses by the mental Health Industry to which there is no science, no medical model, no evidence based medicine and no test for chemical balance is the political means of controlling the population by mind drugs, psychotherapy and Electro Shock Therapy and represents the greatest threat to any political structure including a Constitutional country like the USA. It is now happening on a Worldwide basis.

Project MKULTRA

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKULTRA

MKULTRA was followed up by the Hippie generation, then the controlling of the school system and eroding of parental authority (1989 -90). The limiting of the essential amino acid Tryptophan in the same time frame as Prozac entered the market place (1989).

This is the basis for the corruption of the Mental health / Pharmaceutical industry in the societies today using Pharmaceutical mind drugs.
