Well that's certainly a cop-out.

At least the Marine Corps knows how to lead.

The rest of the Pentagon will catch up eventually.

This demonstrates why the Marines are so revered, while the Army is just.............well, the Army.

This is a result of not getting sexual orientation added to the non-discrimination laws when DADT was repealled. Including that provision would likely have torpedoed the whole bill.

We'll just have to keep pushing the Pentagon while we wait for DOMA to be repealed.

The Pentagon does not like to contradict the decisions of it's base commanders on non-mission critical matters, even if they disagree with them. it interferes with order and discipline. The policy will change when a new base commander is assigned.

In the meantime, let's focus on State and local legislative battles, huh?

Another example of inaccurate reporting! There is a BIG difference between 'not getting involved' and "condoning" something. Furthermore, the Pentagon's explanation is perfectly reasonable: This is a private organization operating within EXISTING legislation (i.e. that particular law hasn't caught up to DODT). Yes, we all understand that this private organization is probably deliberately discriminating, but that doesn't mean the Pentagon "condones" it as this headline suggests. Rather, they are not in a position to take action -- until the law is updated.

People, we do ourselves no favors by picking fights with the Pentagon over every little nit. Let's focus on the big picture!

Agreed, the headline was misleading.
