Good to know - anyways the most positive experience about Germany is leaving it for good and never visiting that hellhole ever again. Glad you feel the same way.
Hanau was heaven. Far from Hell in my book. I am proud to have grown up there and proud to have given birth to my daughter there. My family still lives there and I am proud to be an american military brat raised in Hanau.

I was station in Hanau @ Hessen-Homburg at 45th Medical Battalion between Jan 1984 and Jan 87. I extended for a year and moved off post and it was the best time of my life.

Not my brothers. They were to young. I just hung out with the other kids from school and the young GI's.

I was with A Co, 23rd Engineers April 86 til October 87, and spent a lot of time at the Flug. Spent my first night there and had a "Cruit Drink", where they ran a glass beneath all the upside down bottles and took a smal shot from each, and put OJ in it. I drank it and followed it with ashot of Rocktopuss(?) that almost killed me. 1st Sgt. Bogans PT in the morning came way to early. Hit the Rod N Gun Club, Irish Pub, and The Electric Cowboy was a country bar in 87.

We had one on Pionier kaserne, but didn't do any more bowling after the General discontinued our activity day every week - which was where you were supposed to get in to doing some physical activity - the bowling alley had the beer. BUMMER.
Didn't know about there being one over by the bahnhof.

I seem to remember that a few people died in the woods behind Pioneer in the river (which is why they shut it down by cuting down the tree and patrolling for a while) but I don't know anything about in Kleinauheim. Are you talking about the Rod-n-Gun Club (demolished).

I arrived Dec 1969 Capt Robert Lenz was my sponser. Soon after I was transfered to the 296 CC&S where I served till I rotated out in 1973 after a short time at Bn S-4.
